Farewell, SPS airdrop. You will be missed. + My account after 1 year of Splinterlands

It's been around 1 year since I joined Splinterlands. Over the past year, the crypto market has both mooned all the way to Mars, as well as dipped down to the core of the earth.

But it was always there. Unyielding. Unchanging. The SPS airdrop. No matter how much prices fluctuated, only one thing remained constant. The daily SPS airdrop was always by our side, slowly but steadily contributing to our SPS stack. And now, it is no more.

On a real note, the SPS airdrop provided me with a constant supply of SPS for an entire year, which I am thankful for. It rewards people who have invested into the game, be it in the form of DEC, land PLOTs, SPT from being active on forums, and much more. It helped me build up my SPS stake, which is sitting at around 4k SPS now. Of course, not all of it came from the airdrop, but I think a good chunk of it did.

I pulled this screenshot from my previous post here, where I recorded my journey 4 months in. I went from 2.2k SPS staked in Nov 21 to about 4.1k SPS staked now, Jul 22. But the price in USD went from about $1.2k to $230 🤣
SPS prices are the lowest its been since it was released a year ago, partly due to the larger economic climate, as well as inflationary pressure. Not much we can do about the economic climate, so lets see if the ending of the airdrop + Riftstalkers set needing SPS to purchase, will be enough of a deflationary move to reduce the rate of falling prices.

I started when everything was in a bull market and prices were sky high, so I'm currently in the red :') but i do have a decent card stash to work on, so its not all bad news. I have enough card power for me to stay in Silver 3 without needing to rent, though I havent played much in a few months so I'll have to grind back up first.

It's a bear market now, so things are much much cheaper compared to when I first started. It's a shame that I dont have as much time to grind on the game now compared to 1 year ago :(

But hey, that means it'll be much cheaper for new players to come on board! :D The introduction of Modern and Wild also means that new players won't have to face older cards, (such as those in Beta edition, which can only be attained through other players in the market), allowing for a more even playing field.
