Splinterlands Share your Battle: Shadow Snitch!

Hi, its been a while since I've made a post on a Battle Challenge. But I'm back with a fight using this week's featured monster, the Shadow Snitch!

I'll be honest, I haven't used this Chaos Legion card much in the past, probably just 1 or 2 times when it was released, just to test it out. And I didn't like it very much.

Its a 4 mana with 1 melee attack, 1 speed and 5 health. Its reasonably high health allows it to maybe excel in low mana fights or the 'Little League' ruleset (only 4 mana or below monsters/summoners), but its the 1 attack and 1 speed that puts me off. As a loyal Kelya fan, I value speed. I also value misses. The opponent's misses, that is. Oh, and in case you don't know who Kelya is, here is the Speed Demon in her full glory:

As you can tell, I mainly use the Water splinter, and usually I use this Holy Trinity, coupled with some other monsters, depending on the mana cap. They're mainly fast monsters, so I'm used to seeing my monsters attack first. Slow enemies also miss often, which is always a nice sight to see.

You can probably understand why I'm so skeptical to use a 1 speed monster now. It pains me to see my slow monsters get decimated and die even before they have a chance to attack.

But hey, its not everyday I get to do a Battle Challenge, so I thought I'd try a few matches with it. And so I hopped into a fight. If you'd like to view it firsthand, you can see it here.

It was a 38 mana cap fight, with 'Armored up' and 'Heavy Hitters' rulesets. For the uninitated, thats (+2 armor to all monsters) and (All monsters have the 'Knock out' ability). There were only 4 splinters available this game; Earth, Light, Death, and lastly Dragon. My favorite Water splinter was unavailable, but thats ok, because its challenge time.

Here is my team for the fight. With the 'Armored Up' ruleset, I anticipated the enemy to use magic monsters more, so I went with Thaddius Brood as the summoner, and used Bone Golem as my first monster. My second monster was the challenge monster, Shadow Snitch, because he had reach as well as some health to tank hits. I then settled on my offense monsters, mainly the 'Snipe' trio, which in this case was Death Elemental, Dwarven Wizard and Mantoid. Magic with snipe can avoid the extra armor, while Mantoid was there to provide ranged damage in case the opponent had a magic shield somewhere in their backline. After which, seeing as I had some extra mana, I opted to use Almo Cambio for that sweet 12 health as a tank. As he has no attack, he can defend my Snipe trio against any snipe monsters the enemy had. And with that, I submitted my team.

Here's my opponents team.

Contrary to my expectations, they decided to use a ranged light team. General Sloan boosts all their 2 ranged attack monsters to 3 attack, so it was gonna be painful to deal with. Thankfully, they were snipe-able, and I think I had enough tanks to last until my snipers did their thing. Thaddius Brood also had a -1 health debuff for my opponent, lowering their healths and giving my mage monsters an easier time dealing with the threats. The debuff from 3 health to 2 health was especially important, as that meant my 2 mage monsters could work together and kill it in 1 turn. (Time mage and Lone Boatman)

By the time I killed off all the ranged and magic attack monsters, Almo Cambio was still standing. 10/10 strong boi, would use again

All thats left is 2 melee monsters with less than 4 health each. My magic monsters still had shield, and so we managed to kill them without much trouble. Magic also never misses, which is nice.

And just like that, we won, and got that sweet winstreak 40 rating points, and 1.21 DEC. DEC from matches has been low lately, I used to get 3 DEC or so in a winsteak, but now its less than half of that. Hopefully it pumps soon :p

Thanks for reading, it was a fun match. I never expected to win using Shadow Snitch in 1 match, but I ain't complaining. Besides, it didn't really contribute much, just as a tank. It cant even get past the opponent's Chaos Knight with its 1 attack...

Just kidding, it was an integral part of the strategy. Its 5 health played an important role to ensure the safety of the team xD

Thats it from me, see yall in the next post 👍
