Which cards to develop first ?

I made a post about Splinterlands a couple of days ago and I had a very interesting comment by @cpol where he asked me how he should proceed to develop his deck once he has upgraded his summoners to level 2. I tried to answer his question as a comment but thought I could do better in the form of a video. I hope it helps people to decide which steps to take when growing their Splinterlands deck.

My first dedicated video! Thank you so much, @achim03! For what I've seen, even in Silver league you get quite the edge with level 3 cards. My summoners are leveled up until level 2, but I'm in plans to level up my General Sloan one step further. You are right, I had learned the hard way not to overdevelop my cards. I had levels 5 and 4 that I can't use because of the summoners. They can be used in level 3 and 2, but is the same as blocking your cards!

I'm leveling up the ones that I use more, as you said. I think it's a good strategy and you are right, I made some buys in the past that I never use and I'm considering selling them. They give me few collection power, but not that much to keep them. I'm going to wait for the bull market for selling them! So much good information Achim! I really appreciate the video!!! Thank you so much!

I always try to swap cards I don't need for cards I need. Like that I don't lose much on collection power and I can develop the cards of my choice. Thanks for the inspiration for this post :-)

Great video. I am currently working on my lvl 2 deck and have several of the cards upgraded to their max for the level. I have probably focused too much on collection power per dollar over how much I use the cards. Both are important and you just have to pick a level to grow into. Do you buy epics and legendaries when you notice others using them to beat you?

Especially at lvl 1 and lvl 2, epic and legendaries can make a huge difference. My lineups sometimes consist of 80% epic and legendaries.

Great Post! I never knew exactly how to start leveling my cards, so I stay using lvl 1 ones ( and stay stuck in Silver haha), thanks for sharing this video.

Being in silver with lvl1 cards is actually quite the performance already :-). I'm sure however that it would make a big difference if you could increase your summoners and some of your cards.

I'm definitely not a pro gamer myself, but I think it's reasonable to achieve Rank ~1500 with only lvl1 cards, especially if the player already owns a few more powerful cards; and I'm not even talking about ultra OP cards like Yodin Zaku, but reasonably-affordable cards like Mylor Crowling, Creeping Ooze or Furious Chicken.

Thanks for sharing this information about which cards to level up. I current have three summoners leveled up - Sloan, Obsidian, Tarsa. I am focusing leveling up the monster cards to 3/2/2/1 starting with the common cards since these are the ones that I can afford at this time. Once I get these three splinter's cards leveled up, do I level up on of the other splinter's summoners or do I level up one of these three summoners to the higher level? Thanks

I always check if a level increase gains a significant leverage at lower levels. If not, I wait until I have enough cards for jumping to the next level that I'm interested in and try to rent out at minimum rent the level 1 cards. Sometimes they are used, especially during EOS.

Also, certain cards are not worth upgrading at all or not worth upgrading beyond a certain level. Better have multiples at that optimum level (and rent out), than keep upgrading one for no serious gain.

I totally agree. It's not worth upgrading all the cards. There are some cards that I don't like and I prefer to sell and buy others with :-)

Great video, I would just add for people who are building their deck that 1-2 summoners are enough until gold league so you don't really need to be diversified at the beginning. As you said focusing on 1 at a time is key.

Thanks for sharing! Interestingly, I am able to win >50% of my matches all the way till Silver 2 using just Level 1 summoners and cards. It gets more difficult in Silver 1 or Gold 3 where I face mostly Level 2 or 3 summoners, but it is still possible to win matches by spending more time to think about the lineup.

Imagine what levels you could reach with level 2 or 3 summoners ;-)
