The best time to buy cards is now

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

When the price of cards was tremendously high, everybody was complaining why they didn't buy cards when the prices were much lower. Today, I would like to explain why I believe that now would be the perfect moment to buy more cards and to build your Splinterlands deck.

This is an eye-opening post, those that are reading it should consider it as the history showed the potential game of Splinterlands.

I agree. In the last 30 days, the market has stabilized. Stacking cards with strong rental return is a good strategy. That's what I have been doing this month and the returns are strong. And your video inspired me to take the plunge and buy backs on HiveEngine. !hivebits

I think you can't do much wrong buying packs for less than 3$ on hive-engine at the moment :-). Thanks for stopping by!

Great video. Yes I believe that prices have stabilized and probably will not drop much further. The unopened packs will keep a lid on price increases for awhile. The risk will be smart bots making the game at lower levels unplayable/not fun. A new game starting up which gathers the masses. etc. I think many are waiting on SPS payouts in ranked battles. So SPS is the main item to keep an eye on.

I believe you are right, once you earn SPS for ranked battles the success in game will have more importance and it will increase the need for a better deck.

Surely it's time to be greedy and buy Cards, then it's time to reap the benefits.

It's always a good idea to buy these cards when prices are low :-)

It was yesterday before the crash but today isn't all too bad either lol. When things are at their low point like we are currently sitting in it's time to accumulate.

When most people get away from their screens because the prices tank, it's the best moment to grow our bags :-)

That is great news. I was thinking about when was the best time to buy some CL cards and maybe I will buy some. Just a question, what is your view of the cards which can only attack every 3 turns but hits hard?

That's a very good question. I personaly struggle using them in a useful way. However, maybe the team has something special in store for these cards...

First of all, it's actually every two turns, not three, and it hits for triple the damage.

Just like every other card in the deck, they have their place. For example, Uriel the Pacifier has 6 armor and 12 health so it can usually weather the first couple rounds to get in at least one giant attack. It comes in really handy if your opponent is using a "Shield" tank (like Lord Aranthus or Shieldbearer) or even a high-health tank like Baakjira, Grum, Magnor, etc. As with every card though, they won't win a battle by themselves. You need to have the right mix to go with them. They are fun to use when they work, but, as I said, you need to find the right situation to use them. It does no good to hit for 12 damage when your opponent healed his shield right in front of your turn, for example. But, like I said, it's pretty fun to basically one-shot that stupid jarhead and only get one turn of thorns damage in return. Taking that thing out fast usually results in your opponent not being able to handle the rest of what you've got coming.

Ah that is my mistake. It does seem like it might rely on a bit of luck to decide things. I'll have to check things out and maybe play around with a card or two to decide if they are right for me.

what is the link to buy from hive-engine and what is the difference between booster packs and airdrop pack? thanks

There is no "link". You just go on LeoDex (and I'm assuming TribalDex is the same) and search "Chaos". The packs will show up for you to buy on the market, just like any other Hive token.

The only difference between buying packs on HIVE and buying them on Splinterlands, besides the price, is that the packs you buy on HIVE do NOT count towards your pack number for future airdrops. In other words, if you bought 500 packs on Splinterlands and 800 packs on HIVE, only the 500 would count towards getting the future airdropped cards. Whoever originally bought the packs and is selling them to you on HIVE is the one who gets credit for the pack purchases.

I see, so buying on hive engine you are just betting on the value of the pack or the cards to go up.

Yeah, you can either buy and hold the packs to sell for (hopefully) higher prices down the road, or you can just buy them, move them to Splinterlands, and then open them there. Everything about them is the same except, like I said, they don't count towards your pack number for future airdrops.

For me, if I buy anymore packs, I'll probably do it on HIVE while they're cheaper. I've reached a number on the full price packs that I don't need to add anymore so why not take advantage of the cheaper prices. The last airdrop required 500 packs to get 1 "guaranteed" airdrop card. I'm at a nice round number so I'd have to buy another 500 packs to hit the next level. I've basically maxed my Chaos deck so I don't plan on buying many/any more packs so, if I do, I'll probably go with the cheaper ones.

that's so cool. I have a tiny collection and still trying to learn to play bronze in chaos. I can't see myself going beyond that but maybe if I get addicted to game play

Yeah, I've got a couple land plots, too. From what I've read, it seems like you'll need good cards to run those as well so I just decided I'd try and max my Chaos deck so I'm prepared for that when the time comes. Hopefully it's not a bad decision... :-)

98% of the bad decisions made in crypto were to sell.... as long as I ignore the 6 month period of trying to join node pools on sketchy sites.

I think if you buy and hold, over time your collection will rise in value. They seem to keep finding ways to add value for collectors.

I'm not really sure. I haven't been able to play this week but I've won many battles with them. But also lost a ton. It's really hard for me to figure out the best line ups. When I try to use brute force I lose. I'm going to play a lot this weekend and try to level up for the new season.

I think bronze is the hardest. I have the same cards, and I can sometimes barely win in bronze, yet do much better in silver. I only play with level 2 summoners and some gold. Honestly if you want to win - I would really look into renting a 1 bcx mylor for a few days. It win so many matches - thorns are hard to beat in bronze league given the low health.

I totally agree with your analysis right now. I've been watching prices pretty closely for the past month and while they all have moments of price increases and price decreases, for the most part, they've stayed pretty steady in their current ranges. With the slowing of new packs being sold, I would expect that if anything, prices might start to creep up again.

One thing I would add to this, just to make sure people are aware: it's my understanding that any packs bought on the secondary market do NOT count towards your "packs purchased" number in the game. That means that they will not count towards the future airdropped cards coming for every million sold. That may or may not be a big deal for people, but I thought I'd point it out.

In the meantime, I've been accumulating cards and have almost maxed out my Chaos deck. I've just got a handful of Epics yet to fill and then, of course, that stupid Dr Blight. I've got 6 but biting the bullet to buy another 5 at over $100 each is a tough pill to swallow, especially since I only fight at Gold level. Unfortunately, it IS a really great card and I'm sure the "Weaken" ability you pick up at max level could definitely make a big difference in those close battles. Time to start saving...

You are totally right, only the packs bought from the splinterlands website give a chance to get free airdropped cards. However the value of that is linked to the ratio of packs necessary to get a guaranteed card. It was 500 packs for the last one and it could be even more for the following ones.

I also invested in Dr. Blight as well but developed it only to level 3. I really don't want to put 5 more cards into it just for the weaken ability. It seems steep to pay 500 $ for a weaken ability lol.

I can't imagine the ratio will go up again but...maybe. I think they have a set number of cards in mind that get minted of each of these so they do the math and go from there. I think they miscalculated on the first couple which is why they raised the number from 300(350?) to 500 but I would think they have it figured out from here on. That said, you never know.

Yeah, like I said above, $500 is tough to justify for one extra ability. That said, if you're planning to compete at the top levels, odds are your opponent will have it so you'll probably need it. Of course, there's every possibility in the world that the team will be coming out with a "counter" hero at some point. Maybe the last airdropped card for example. Start the sale off with Dr Blight and then finish it with "Professor Eden" (I made that up...the Garden of Eden being the antithesis of blight). Professor Eden could "remove poison" from one monster, be immune to it herself, have the strengthen ability, reflect magic, and do double damage against cards with the poison ability all with the same "camouflage" ability that Blight has.

I have no idea if this is in the plans but...it seems to make sense.

Right now is definitely the best time, I have now got my Water Silver Deck, and a Level two Legendary summoner Quix, though I think Quix could still drop in price, but I will not regret building my deck right now!

It's always difficult to get the best prices for cards. I think the important thing is not to overpay them but try to average cost when general prices are low.

Thanks for the curation!

You are welcome, agree it's difficult to get the best price, so cost averaging is one option and one is to bid in peakmonsters on what you think you are willing to pay for the card.

I am not that sure if the prices have reached a low, but I feel that card prices are quite reasonable now. Am still keeping a few packs for the SPS airdrop points. Hehe!

It's definitely possible that some cards will still go down in price but I don't believe that there will be major price decreases anytime soon. Packs are definitely good to generate airdrop points :-)

I agree. Finally, I was able to buy legendary cards at bargain prices. If I only have extra budget now, I would have bought more for my family's accounts.

You are completely right, I think now is the lowest the cards are going to be. Once the packs sell out the price of the cards will start to rise. Now is the time, those that wait will cry lol
