My favourite ability: Taunt

I believe that what is most challenging in Splinterlands is the different abilities of the cards. They make the game unpredictable and interesting at the same time.

Today, I would like to talk about my favourite ability: Taunt...

LOL, I just did my daily quest and lost at least 4 times to that strategy...either Mycelic Slipspawn or the Shieldbearer, especially if it is combined with a healer. This lets them rip apart your back line while you struggle to knock off the taunter. My best counter is a pure magic team with 1+ magic Summoner. Usually wrecks the taunter in one turn, heehee!

Yes a strong magic attack is the best remedy against this strategy :-)

I love the Taunt ability so much, @achim03! If they took Shieldbearer from my deck, I wouldn't know how to do with the Life Splinter. I usually do what you say: Venary Heatsmisth and Divine Shiled healing Shielbearer, while Armorsmith or Scavo Hireling fixing his armor. The downsides of that tactic is I can't use many other cards, since I got 4 already fixed, and I need at least 21 mana to implement this lineup. But the more mana I can get for a battle, the better. This of course, makes it very predictable and somewhat easier to counter.

I recently got in a Chaos Legion pack a Wave Brood for Water and it's amazing!!! But again, it has the same downsides as before. The bad thing is I only have one healer (a Merdaali Guardian), so I can't try the same configuration as Life. However, Water is such a powerful Splinter now that I don't need my taunt to survive most of the battle, just enough to reduce my opponent defenses or offensive.

The problem I got now is, what I'm going to do when the game don't let me use both healers in Life anymore, because Divine Healer as an Alpha and Beta card will be place in the Wild Format and I won't be able to play it in Modern. I'm still debating with myself about it. Thank you so much for sharing this video!!!

A solution would be the tortisian chief which is neutral and has healing from level 4. It's an untamed card and it could be played in neutral mode. Only problem, the card costs 16 $ per BCX and you need 20 of them lol

I also use Taunt quite often. But it used to be more powerful in the past. Now, with the scattershot ability, one can avoid it and make a mess to the unexpecting opponent's team, who expected the attacks to be drawn to the taunting monster.

Yes, that's true. Fortunately not many people use this ability yet. I struggle when I fight a full magic team. That results most often in defeats :-)

(Edited)

Use more amplify (with magic reflect) and forcefield. That should do the trick.

A good defense is the key to a victory... I like to use Kraken as it get rage and his speed goes up... In the meantime, I can heal it and do the counterattack with all my magic attackers... :)

Kraken is also my favourite. I love to play it with dragon selena sky lol ;-)

I ended up buying Wave Brood yesterday. It will take awhile to figure out what works there. Have you seem much scattershot ability used? This ability reaches past taunt occasionally.

I think that scattershot isn't that much used yet. Wave brood is pretty powerful especially when you have reverse speed.

Yes, I use Taunt cards during Opportunity/Snipe battles too! Personally I actually like cards with Opportunity ability, e.g. Deeplurker.

Deeplurker is pretty powerful with his ability. I have developped it at level 5 and it comes with 4 attack and 4 speed. Love it :-)
