What impact will SPS Validator Node Licenses Have?
I have just read the latest Gold Foil Press by Splinterlands where they present the whole SPS Validator Node License concept in dept. I encourage you to read it because I believe that this can have a huge impact on the tokenomics of SPS and Vouchers.

I think it is good for SPS. Every day you are earning proportion of what nodes you hold. If you can afford to buy a few nodes, it's great investment. So now I am buying SPS and adding to it !
One idea is to invest in nodes and the other to invest in SPS and hope that because of these licences, price of SPS will moon :-)
That is a long time to wait for the validator nodes to come out. A 6-8 month wait and it will probably be even longer considering how behind the land patch is.
It's an interesting way to look at SPS and VOUCHERS but I think it's just way too costly and I don't really feel like running a node.

I agree, it's a long time to wait and as you said there is no guarantee that it won't be postponed for some more time. During this time the money is idle.
The licences seem pretty expensive and you can't really define whether it will be economicaly viable now.
Hmm not sure if I am understanding it correctly, does these mean VOUCHERs are going to increase substantially in value over the years? In the later phases, it doesn't make sense for anyone to pay in SPS if they could use VOUCHERs to offset $3, $5 or even $40, if the VOUCHERs are trading at current values (around $2).
So if one were to buy VOUCHERs are around $2 now, regardless of the price movement for SPS, one would already achieve a 50% return if it goes up to $3 in Tranche 1 and more than double if it goes up to $5 in Tranche 2.
So VOUCHERs seem to be the better choice since the return is almost guaranteed as long as there is demand for the licenses, compared to SPS where there is more uncertainty over the price movement. But if that's the case, I wonder why the price of VOUCHER is not pricing this potential return yet. Not sure what's the catch that I am missing though.
If I got things correctly, you will only be able to use up to 50% in vouchers to purchase Licenses. But basically your are totally correct. These vouchers could have a big leverage in purchasing the licences in the future.
Yes it's up to 50% for the usage of VOUCHERs. I guess I will wait and see, in the meantime, HBD at 20% does seem quite attractive.

My actual concern is what will it take to run a node....
buying the license and when to buy the license is a matter of economics and timing but what do you need in order to run a node

The way I see it, they say that it will be a kind of easy to install software but you will need to let the computer run 24/7 to get the maximal payout. You would probably need some server space somewhere :-)

A bit strange the SPS price hasn't soared yet. At least vouchers are doing us some service. There should be a few more weeks before the validator licensees will be on the market, which means we should expect a nice pump, maybe?
That's what I'm hoping on. It might offer some opportunities to make some money with vouchers and Sps ;-)
I've got mixed thought and with recent ongoing server issues, I suspect they will push most things on the timeline including validators back. Having them functioning before the end of the year seems optimisitic. Also, I'm not sure anyone has broken down the math, but those expecting to see payouts like Gala nodes are in for a shock. I agree, the price for a license seems pretty steep. Well there are some big accounts that got tons of SPS from the airdrop and they simply can reallocate a part from their stake into licences. For people who have to buy them from scratch, it seems definitely expensive.
