I am also into pruning at the moment and I am keeping tabs on its positive and negative effects. About the tip, is it also applicable to damage caused by rain?

Maybe share your a list of positive and negatives when you have enough info. The tip on frost damage isn't applicable to rain. rain is generally impact damage or the sudden growth of weak, soft material that is easily physically damaged. Frost damage is caused by the water in the extremities of the plant expanding as it is frozen, bursting the cell walls.
