2 UPCOMING THINGS TO BE BULLISH ABOUT FOR SPLINTERLANDS

There are two major developments in the works that are currently outside of the Splinterlands game but have the potential to be significantly impactful one out. These are the Splinterlands Tower Defense game and Genesis League Goals.

Let's break them down:

Splinterlands Tower Defense
The tower defense game will actually be part of the game economy around Splinterlands and as of now will potentially have sinks for vouchers and DEC, as well as SPS utility in the form of staking requirements for rewards. Since this game is in active development, one of the main reasons I am bullish is because it can be used as a swiss army knife to help address issues within the current game economy that the main game is not in a position to do yet (like land for example). If Tower Defense can create the appropriate sinks along with demand from existing and maybe new players that could do a lot to help the overall game economy.

Genesis League Goals
For GLG, this technically exists outside of the Splinterlands ecosystem but has one major tie in - the GLX airdrop for staking SPS. If we continue to see SPS bleed lower due to lack of utility and oversupply of DEC, the APR for buying into SPS to earn GLX will continue to go up. On top of that, if GLG can launch in Q1 with the MLS season we could see an early flywheel effect as GLX will need to be burned in order to get GLUSD. An increase in GLX price would further increase the APR and make it appealing for new or existing players to grab more SPS.

While we don't know where current development is at, I am still hopeful that the original estimates of getting both of these games out in Q1 will be hit. Q2 at the latest, fingers crossed. With land not set to come out until the end of 2023 or early 2024 and many other Splinterlands features still only in idea phase, these two external projects may be the best bet we have to improve the overall game economy in 2023!
