Should Splinterlands Adopt A Standard Season Length?

avatar

In this video, I discuss the upcoming change to Season Rentals only for cards. With this change, I believe there is an opportunity to standardize seasons in Splinterlands so that when people choose to rent out a card, they know exactly what they will be able to use it for.

Right now, seasons are different lengths as we usually get 2 per month. The problem with months though is they do not all have the same amount of days so some seasons can be as long as 17 days and others as short as 12. If we were to standardize to a 2 week season (regardless of month), players would know exactly what they are renting for when it comes to ranked play and Survival Mode (cooldown times are standard).

We could also take things a step further by adjusting guild brawl cycles to match a standard season, as well as tournament cycles although those may end up rotating based on DAO voting. Either way, I do believe standardizing the season length would make things easier across the board.

What do you think?

I think it would make sense for season to be month long, though it would probably result in less advancement chests.

Personally I prefer the two weeks window. Although if we eventually get a change like this then it's probably because of the rental market.
