The thing is, that's exactly what they're doing... The only thing the platform is required to do is to provide the data, but that takes much more resources than you'd think.
Maybe, law people targets those platform because they can provide this data for them "easily."

I assume they also pay all the expenses the platform has for tracking all these transfers of in-game items which had no monetary value until the marketplaces built the bridges out of that sandbox economy.
Pretty sure they don't, but I'm not an insider so...
