Is Marlai Singariel the Best Archon?

(Edited)

Even though the enemy has better units and stronger archon than me, in this battle, I think my Marlai Singariel is still better overall. The extra magic damage is simple but very effective. By attacking in all sides, from the front and Sneak to the back, the enemy has to make a choice whether he sacrifice his front line or give me their back line. It's a really good strategy I used to win in Modern Ranked.

Battle:

This battle has Lost Legendaries modifier which bans the use of legendary units. A lot of strong units are not allowed to use in this battle. Legendary archons like, Sheng Xiao, can be used. I feel like this battle is testing my lineup on how much I can do without relying on strong units. The good thing is I don't have a lot of strong legendary units and most of my strong units are only Epic rarity like Abyssal Elemental and Captain Fellblade.

My Lineup:

My lineup is focused on magic attacks. I want to use two tanks so I added Coralforged and Daigendark Surveyor in the front while the rest of the team attacks the back. Captain Fellblade, Saltwater Mage and Conclave Tracker are my attackers while Abyssal Elemental does both.

Marlai Singariel: I have a lot of magic attacks so I can benefit a lot from Marlai Singariel. Although she only gives +1 magic damage, I still have 4 units that gain from it.

Coralforged: I got this unit from the rewards. He is my best tank unit for Water. Coralforged has Flank but I rarely use it because my units with magic attack can already attack without the help from Coralforged Flank ability.

Daigendark Suveyor: Daigedark Surveyor has no attack but she only costs 2 mana for 5 health which is a good trade. She also has Magic Reflect which can hurt other units with Magic Attack that attacks her.

Abyssal Elemental: I find Abyssal Elemental as a useful flexible unit. The attack is good and the health and armor can make him a tank in times of need. Resurgence ability allows him to get revived when he dies making my lineup a 7 unit team instead of a usual 6.

Conclave Tracker: She only have low damage but still a magic damage. That's getting boosted by Marlai Singariel and the Opportunity is useful on dealing the last attacks on low health units.

Saltwater Mage: Saltwater Mage is a unit I bought from the beginning. She has 2 magic attack which is good because Marlai Singariel makes it 3. The Sneak also complements with the next unit making them a deadly duo.

Captain Fellblade: Captain Fellblade both have magic damage and melee attack, both can attack and has Sneak properties. Together with Saltwater Mage, she is a good addition to the team.

Enemy Lineup:

When I saw the enemy lineup, I got scared because this is the first time I saw and fought against this dragon archon. Their lineup doesn't have Poison Burst and Corrosive Ward so I think they forgot to add it which is good for me.

Sheng Xiao: This was a scary archon because it can poison the enemies with Poison Burst. The units need to die to make that happen. I think he is planning to use the Poison Burst with Umbral Elemental for the Taunt and Grimbardun Fighter. They should be the first ones to die in this battle.

Grimbardun Fighter: I want to try this unit and might rent it in the future when I play Modern Ranked again. The Shield can be good because he is a tank. It also has decent health and good amount of damage. He reminds me of Giant Alpine Skink from Water element.

Night Reaper: Night Reaper is a strong unit from the Dragon tribe. It has 3 magic damage, high health, Flying and Wingbreak ability. The Wingbreak ability is a good ability to target other Flying units. It may be useful in modifiers like Earthquake where you need units with Flying abilities.

Arcane Skinwalker: This unit has high armor for a magic attacker. The Shapeshift is interesting. It can be used with other archon that has Bloodline abilities.

Shadowfey Sheik: This unit is quite strong in my opinion. It has 2 magic damage and Life Leech which means it gets stronger as the battle goes.

Conclave Tracker: The enemy also have their own Conclave Tracker. Theirs have higher level giving them Repair and better stats.

Umbral Elemental: It has magic damage, Taunt and Swiftness. The Taunt can be good when trying to protect your team. I initially thought it was a legendary unit but I was mistaken.

I learned a lot from looking and studying my enemy's lineup. I will try Sheng Xiao and Grimbardun Fighter some other time but I do think these two are really interesting and can be strong when used properly.
