Druid: A myth?

From a very young age, I have been attracted to Celtic culture. To be honest, everything that involves white magic and esoterism ends up attracting me because I like to study issues that involve something beyond this physical plane in which we live.

One of the most interesting aspects of Celtic culture is the Druids. Little is known about this figure, to the point of being almost a legend. The Druids passed on their knowledge orally, so there are no books or scriptures made by them. The only source we have is reports of other civilizations coming across Celtic culture.

I was stunned when I was looking for which legend to write about and found the SPIRIT DRUID GROG card. I looked at it for about 3 or 4 minutes trying to understand the symbolism of the illustration. I can say, and I know that many will agree with me, it is one of the best and most complex cards of all that exist in Splinterlands. And the reason I say this is that this character is a very assertive representation of what is known about the Druids.

At Druid Grog, everything that is essentially known about a druid is present: They were mages. Wise mages whose task was to advise and pass on knowledge of nature and the divine to the entire Celtic society. And how is this represented in the card? His long hair and beard, his mask of an animal bone, and all the symbols referring to nature are present throughout the art.

Grog brews a potion, he is clearly like a spirit entity. With him, we can see several species of mushrooms stuck in his clothes, or are they part of his skin? Fire represents power, what will make everything ready, the missing ingredient for the magic to happen. It is known that the Celts worshiped fire, as well as the other elements of nature: Water, Earth, and Air. And even those elements are very well represented in these characters; the water that boils the portion in the cauldron, the earth represented by the magician's cloak full of plants, and the air? Air is the mind, the magician's wisdom.

I didn't know about this character until I decided to browse the Splinterlands Marketplace, and what a nice surprise! It became one of my favorite cards, because of its beauty and complexity. It is an earth element spell card, and its power is the Resurrect. A card that I will surely have in my collection one day. Congratulations to the artist that created it.

Desde muito nova me sinto atraída pela cultura celta. Para ser sincera, tudo que envolve magia branca e esoterismo acaba me atraindo porque gosto de estudar sobre questões que envolvem algo além desse plano físico em que vivemos.

Um dos aspectos mais interessantes da cultura celta, são os Druidas. Pouco se sabe sobre essa figura, ao ponto de ser quase uma lenda. Os Druidas passavam seu conhecimento oralmente, então não há livros ou escrituras feitas por eles. A única fonte que temos são relatos de outras civilizações ao se depararem com a cultura celta.

Confesso que fiquei muito surpresa quando estava buscando sobre qual lenda escrever e me deparei com a carta SPIRIT DRUID GROG. Fiquei olhando para ela por uns 3 ou 4 minutos buscando entender o simbolismo da ilustração. Posso afirmar, e sei que muitos concordarão comigo;é uma das cartas mais bem-feitas e complexas de todas que existem em Splinterlands. E o motivo de eu dizer isso, é que esse personagem é uma representação muito assertiva a cerca do que se sabe sobre os Druidas.

No Druida Grog existem presentes tudo o que essencialmente se sabe sobre um druida: Eram magos. Magos sábios que tinham como tarefa aconselhar e repassar o conhecimento da natureza e do divino para toda a sociedade Celta. E como isto está representado na carta? Seus longos cabelos e barbas, sua máscara da ossada de um animal, e todos os símbolos referentes a natureza presentes em toda a arte.

Grog prepara uma poção, ele é claramente como uma uma entidade espiritual. Com ele podemos ver várias espécies de cogumelos presos em suas vestes, ou será que fazem parte de sua própria pele? O fogo representa o poder, aquilo que deixará tudo pronto, o ingrediente que falta para a magia acontecer. É sabido que os Celtas cultuavam o fogo, assim como os demais elementos da natureza: Água, terra e Ar. E até esses elementos são muito bem representados nesses personagens; a água que ferve a porção no caldeirão, a terra representada pela capa do mago cheio de plantas, e o ar? O ar é a mente, a sabedoria do mago.

Eu não conhecia essa carta até o momento que decidi navegar pelo Marketplace de Splinterlands, e que bela surpresa! Se tornou uma das minhas cartas preferidas, por tamanha beleza e complexidade. É uma carta mágica do elemento terra, e seu poder é o Resurrect. Uma carta que, com certeza, terei em minha coleção um dia. Parabéns ao artista que a criou.
