This week: Dragon

Hello to the splinterlands community (introduction)

I am new to this so please bare with me as I make a few posts to get used to the markdown system. Recently I started getting more involved in the discord community. And thanks to that I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to start doing the challenge as it was dragon and @bigdizzle91 was kind enough to lend me a Robo-Dragon Knight. I've never used it myself prior to this so I was just experimenting with it. This was my first battle.

Building my deck

The only summoner I had was the drake of arnak so that was the obvious choice for that. It wouldn't be of much help against a magic deck but I was banking on the Robo-Dragon Knight carrying me. So he went up front as the main tank. The divine shield paired with void armour and 9 health meant that he could have held his own but since it was a low mana match I chose to use life splinters for the support options. Since the armour wouldn't work against magic I chose the divine healer to be in the second position.

For damage, I chose to use my naga assassin for its cheap price and its 5 speed.

I didn't have much mana left and wasn't sure if they would use any sneak characters so I put my Pelecor Conjurer.

The enemy deck

They went with a basic magic build. Spineback turtle upfront, Pirate captain second and your basic low mana magic units

The Fun Stuff

Time to get to the meat and potatoes of this breakdown. I'm going to go over each round and break down what happened over the round so if you can't be bothered to watch the battle you can just read through it.

Buff and Debuffs

This is my first bit of luck in the battle. I had my +1 shields and my enemy had his +1 magic. That was is. They hadn't played the Vanaria Wavesmith. That would have been a very quick defeat.

Round 1

The image above is the end of round 1. My damage has removed the 2 armour on the enemy tank and thanks to my healer all the dmg that was dealt by his magic units have been mitigated. His sniper did however manage to take the 1 shield my healer had off.
As you can see not much happened.

Round 2 - Bring out the big guns

This is where things start happening. my healer loses one life because of the sniper, my naga assassin and Robo-Dragon got their 4 dmg on their tank.
The Robo-Dragon managed to take the magic attack and come out on top, only one hp down from his starting 9 the same case for his shield.

Round 3 - The Defense has fallen

Their tank is down, My tank stands strong, Their range is disabled.
Things are starting to look bleak for my opponent.

Round 4 - Bring in the cleanup crew

Another enemy falls at the hands of the Robo-Dragon. He is still holding strong, down to 6 hp but that's more than enough to finish up the remaining enemies.

Round 5 - Another one bites the dust

Round 6 - Another one gone, Another one gone

Round 6 - Another one bites the dust

Conclusion

The Robo-Dragon gave me the win, that is all I can say. I'm not always sure whether it's worth sacrificing one mana to use dragon, I don't have enough dragon cards to make it work, but if you have a card or two it can be an extremely versatile and useful splinter. Especially if you have a higher mana cap to work with. I think after this match I will definitely be giving dragon more attention in the future.

P.S. Thanks again to @bigdizzle91 for letting me try the card out for free. like I said karma always comes back around so enjoy a portion of the posts rewards.
