Splinterlands Land, Transportation

avatar

In this post, I would like to elaborate on some ideas I hinted about in my first post found here. I want to talk about what I think the @splinterlands Land feature will look like with how we will transport items and cards. I think these two pictures offer a glimpse into what we can expect. These pictures were released by @bulldog1205 in the splinterlands Discord "eye candy" channel.

As you can see, the two pieces of artwork for the game might hint at what could be announced at Spinterfest next month. The two wagons are the equivalent of RVs and need a sizeable four-legged animal to pull the wagon. In the second picture, the large animal is as big as the wagon.

It reminds me of the Oaken Behemoth.

Could this animal be a card that is required to pull these wagons? I am a big fan of this game as we will see all games and mini-games that require Splinterlands tokens, assets, or cards will increase the value of the game. I digress. I believe these wagons will be the key to moving manufactured items and resources from place to place.

We have a few ideas about what we will harvest from the land and what they will produce. For those who are land enthusiasts, we can see the value and reason for being so sad for each delay of land. In my last post, I gave the example of wood that needed to be transported to a factory or forge to build these items such as ships and wagons. The land will need these forms of transportation to haul workers to harvest trees and other resources. I think wagons are only the beginning.

With the introduction of land traveling wagons, I believe the game will need to incorporate roads to guide these large transportation devices. With the idea of a steampunk style tech being used in the game, I can see the possibility of trains, water canals, rickshaws, cable cars, and other old forms of transportation to move around items and resources.

I think the game should offer more than just ships and wagons. Imagine you own a Fertile Forest.

Looking down at the map, you have a building that houses a port to load resources onto a flying boat. The trees are 15 plots away, and a wagon can transport these harvested trees to your ship port at x speed. What about introducing a small gauge train to transport more trees to the port? Like the small gauge trains used in the 1800s, companies would construct temporary rails into a forest, harvest the wood, and then move the tracks to another area. This rail could connect your plots with a place to transport your resources to the markets or other players' p2p.

I am confident that the team at @splinterlands will grow Lands, and building other parts of this game makes Land even better for when it comes. I see Land and the resources connected to Land as the hub from which all other aspects of this game derive. What are your thoughts on what transportation should look like in this game?
