Don't Make this Basic Mistake (that I just made...)
Yesterday I received my first author reward (355.928634 SPT). I intended to delegate it to @monster-curator, to enjoy the benefits of their curation service. I post using the Splintertalk.io platform. So I went to my Splintertalk wallet, and the only option I could see was to stake. So, I staked it to @monster-curator, thinking, surely, that's the same as delegating... Not so, apparently. I should have staked it to myself, then used another hive wallet to delegate it to @monster-curator. Dang! How complicated does this get? Well, Monster-Curator are welcome to the SPT. I have a better idea of what to do next time. ('Better' being the operative word. How many hoops do you have to jump through...?) :-)

You don't have to go through another platform to delegate. You just didn't have the option yet because you are only able to delegate tokens that have already been staked.
I read on the Monster Curator website that Splintertalk wallet doesn't have the delegate option
