Grumblings from the Grinch

I am new to Splinterlands. Been playing for a few weeks. Some aspects of this game are really playing on my mind. Some things do not make sense to me. I have questions.

  1. Why is the dev team adamant that bots are here to stay? Why, to tackle the bot farm issue, was their solution to lower the rewards at bronze level, effectively making it all but impossible for new players (without money to invest) to gain a toehold in the game?

  2. The whole business around that (ex) option to prevent bots from seeing your team before they submit theirs. Why was that even an option? Wny was enabling it disincentivised (if the other side surrenders, it doesn't count towards quests)? Now the option has been removed. How do we know what the new default setting is? Why would that even be allowed in the first place? Coupled with the insistence that bots are here to stay, it makes me very suspicious.

  3. SPS. Everyone is waiting for Chaos Legion. The new card set that is shortly to be released. To buy presale card packs, you need vouchers. (This was never a requirement before.) To get vouchers (other than buying them on the secondary market) you need to stake SPS. There is an incentive to buy presale packs with SPS (10% discount). So - who can afford to stake SPS to get the vouchers, and buy with SPS to get the discount? Whales can afford it, I think. Only whales. Or new players with lots of money to invest. New players hoping to take the slow route and build over time are being edged out. Persona non grata.

Am I wrong? I would love to be wrong about this. What do you think? Please comment, I welcome debate about this. Please let's keep it civilized :-)

Thus spake the Grinch.
