Counterspell Ruleset

Description:

All units receive the magic reflect ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with magic receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to the damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Magic units with the reflection shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
The amplify ability increases damage.

The Battle Ruleset

What Doesn't Kill You: All Monsters have the Enrage ability.
Equalizer: The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.
Counterspell: All Monsters have the Magic Reflect ability.

This is a middle mana ruleset game and three color is available to play, which is the Fire, Water and Life Splinters. Usually I would play with the Water Splinter, but the Counterspell ruleset change my decision for the favor of the Fire, because they can boost all the melee attack monsters and they have several good ranged attack monster as well.

The Equalizer ruleset will make some of the rarely played monsters who has very low health much more playable, because their health will be the same like the other monsters on the battlefield.

My Team Composition

Tarsa is gives +1 melee attack and health to all of her monsters, which is a huge advantage for a mostly melee attack team and I have to try to take advantage of that picking some of the best low budget melee attack monsters.

image.png

The Explosive Rats is a very good choice in the Equalizer ruleset, because normally he would have only one health, but in this battle he would have the same amount of health like the one with the most and I can take advantage of his Blast ability, which will damage the monsters next to his target as well.

image.png

The Scorch Fiend is my off-tank for this battle and surprisingly he would have 8 health liek the rest of my monsters on the battlefield and that is an amazing feature from a zero mana monster.

image.png

The Uraeus cost only 3 mana and he is a Sneak attack monster, which means that he will attack the last monster from the enemy team and if he is lucky he might be able to trigger a poison on them.

image.png

The Spirit Hoarder is an amazing choice for this battle, because he cost only 3 mana and he has the Blind ability, which will give a 15% miss chance to all enemy monsters.

His Triage helps a lot to heal our backline if there is a Sneak or Snipe monster in the enemy team and the high health will give him enough job to take care. Even if my opponent wouldn't bring any Sneak or Snipe monster he will be able to heal his own health to heal back his lost health against the Counterspell ruleset.

image.png

The Serpentine Spy is an Opportunity monster, which means that he will always attack the lowest health monster from the enemy team. He has an amazing three attack damage and five speed and the Equalizer makes his low health to dissapear.

The Spark Pixies is a low cost Flying monster with an incredible amount of speed. He has plus two ranged attack, which is amazing and usually he has low health, but not this time thanks to the Equalizer ruleset.

The Battle

My enemy picked the Water Splinter with Kelya who wanted to take advantage of his armor and speed buff for the rest of the battle.

The Enrage ruleset made bot hof our teams extra strong and speedy, because their damage and speed was increased by 50%.

Luckily in the end of the first round my team killed the first monster from the enemy team, which was his Torrent Fiend.

There was a lot of missed attack in the second round, but my Spirit Hoarder was immune to the hit and miss effect! His only problem was the Counterspell ruleset, but hopefully his Triage ability will counter that.

In the third round I lost my Spark Pixie, but at least my team killed two of his damage dealer, which left only two monster on his side of the battlefield.

It was quite easy to finish the battle from here and the high speed + blast on my Exploding Rats helped me a lot throughout the battle. 😊

Do you like Counterspell? Why or why not?

I like this ruleset and the other two reflect ruleset as well, because it allows me to change my perspective a little bit when building my team and try to use something different.
