BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge with Earthquake Grandmaster Rathe vs. Obsidian

Earthquake ruleset

Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.

Using monsters with Flying or Heal is the trick for this ruleset, but if you are unable to choose such monsters, use monsters that have high HP and high damage. Don't keep heal units up front. Shield has a very important role. Using Brighton Bloom as summoner can help in this ruleset. Keep monsters with Flying in last positions when Earthquake has done enough damage to both sides.

The Battle Ruleset

Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
Tis but Scratches: All Monsters have the Cripple ability.
Reverse Speed: Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.

This is a good amount of mana cap game and every color is available to play except the Dragons. There is a huge option to choose from and the mana is more than enough to assemble a good team for either of us. Recently I started to use the legendary Summoner of Grandmaster Rathe, because he has 3 abilites to provide protection to my team.

My Lineup

image.png

Grandmaster Rathe is a legendary Summoner who gives one armor and Void to all of his friendly monsters. The Void will makes my monsters to get protection against magic attacks as well. The Amplify aablity was useless in this battle, because I didn't have any monsters with reflect skill.

image.png

Normally I wouldn't use the Jared Scar as my main tank, but I used Iziar to taunt all my enemy monsters to give some time to Jared to use his Bloodlust and gain advantage over his enemy. The Piercing and True Strike is amazing to 100% hit his target and even break through their armor.

image.png

Adelade Brightwing is an excellent Life monster, because she has magic damage, low speed (good for the Reverse Speed ruleset) and the Ressurect ability to bring back the first monster who would die in her team.

image.png

The Spirit Hoarder has the Triage ability to try to heal my Iziar, because that monster will try to take all the incoming damage, so a nice support is essential. The Blind ability gives an extra protection against all the enemy ranged and melee monsters.

image.png

I used the Djinn Renova for the same purpose like the Spirit Hoarder to heal Iziar and luckily this monster has a lot of magic damage as well to try to kill the enemy monsters.

Iziar is an absolutely amazin monster especially yif you have a gold foil version of him. I was very lucky to pull him out from a reward chests and I always try to include him to my team every since. His only disadvantage is his mana cost, but I can easily use him over 40 mana. The Taunt will make him to direct all the incoming damage onto him and with a nice support he can easily win any game.

The War Pegasus is also a new soulbound card like Iziar and he has an excellent ranged damage, but his 4 speed is quite high for this battle. I had to use him, because of his Flying ability, so the Earthquake damage wouldn't damage him at all.

My strategy was to try to direct my opponent's monsters attack onto my Iziar and heal him out using my two Triage and one Repair monsters.

My opponent brought the Obsidian into the battle and that is a good news for me, because the Void Armor from my Summoner will work as a charm against her. He tried to use a similar tactic to use the Taunt monster of Mycelic Slipspawn to direct my damage onto him, but without a proper support his monster died at the end of the first round. 😀

My opponent was lucky to kill my Iziar at the second round, but Adelade resurrected him back to life and my two Triage monster kept him alive until my Jared Scar killed their tank and increased his own stats.

As soon as my opponent lose his main tank it was very easy to kill his leftover monster.

Do you like Earthquake? Why or why not?

Yes, that is not a bad ruleset, because if you have a lot of Flying monsters than you can have an extra advantage over your enemy. It is important to bring Triage monsters to heal your backline to try to sustain as much as damage possible.
