Equal Opportunity ruleset

image.png

All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.

Description:

All units gain the Opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team.

Speed and HP is the trick here: higher speed will let you target enemy's low HP monster first, opening the way for your slower monsters to deal damage to higher HP enemy monsters. Keep lower HP monsters in front. Monsters who have two attack types should always be preferred.

The Battle Ruleset

Unprotected: Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs.
Equal Opportunity: All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Going the Distance: Only Monsters with Ranged attack my be used in battles.

This is a middle mana ruleset game and only two color plus one is available to play the Life, Water plus the Dragon Splinter. I picked one of my favorite summoner and Splinter from the game, which is Kelya from the Water Splinter. The Unprotected ruleset is not the best for Kelya, because it removes the +1 armor he gives, but my goal was to gain advantage of his speed buff.

There was only ranged attack monsters available, so I had to choose carefully what to pick, because if they start to fell into the first position they can not attack anymore.

My Team Composition

image.png

Kelya Frendul is a four mana Summoner who gives +1 speed and armor to all of his friendly monsters. In this battle he got countered on his armor buff, but I wanted to pick him to choose one of the best ranged attack monsters that are available in the game.

image.png

The Wave Brood is an amazing tank for this battle, because he has huge health and he is able to attack from the first position like a proper tank thanks to his Close Range ability.

image.png

Igor Darkspear is an excellent ranged attack monster, because he cost only two mana and he has two ranged attack. His main ability is Stun, which means that he will be able to stun his target skipping its turn, but only if he triggers it.

image.png

The Gargoya Devil is a very good ranger as long as it comes damaging his target, but unfortunately he doesn't have too much health and even his armor will be reduced to zero for this battle.

image.png

The Supply Runner cost 6 mana and he has the Swiftness ability, which means that he will increase the speed of all of his friendly monsters. This is a very good combination with the speed buff from Kelya to ensure that my monsters will attack first.

image.png

The Kulu Swimhunter is a low mana cost monster with a a lot of damage and speed, so he will helps a lot to kill the monster in the first position of th enemy team.

image.png

The Axemaster is the best ranged attack monsters in the game compare to his cost and damage. He attacks twice in every round and his speed is quite high in order to maximise his damage. The only thing I need to make sure that my opponent is not going to bring any Sneak attack monster in a regular game.

My strategy worked as I wanted, but my opponent used Quix the Devious to counter his speed and he reduced all of my ranged attack monsters attack damage by one.

In the first round my team killed their Venari Marksrat who has the Martyr ability, so he increased the stats of the monster next to him. Luckily at the end of the round my team managed to kill another monster from his backline.

The high speed on my team helped a lot to hit their high speed target and they managed to kill him as well.

At the end of the second round I have lost my Wave Brood and I almost lost my Igor* as well, but luckily he survived with only one health.

In the third round my team still had four monster who was able to deal damage and it was easy to kill his last remaining monster.

Do you like Equal Opportunity? Why or why not?

As long as I have all the cards that I need I like it this ruleset a lot, because there is a lot of monsters and summoners whom are able to counter the Going the Distance properly and they are a must have if you want to beat your opponent.
