Equal Opportunity ruleset

All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.

Description:

All units gain the Opportunity ability which allows them to attack the unit with the lowest health on the enemy team.

Speed and HP is the trick here: higher speed will let you target enemy's low HP monster first, opening the way for your slower monsters to deal damage to higher HP enemy monsters. Keep lower HP monsters in front. Monsters who have two attack types should always be preferred.

The Battle Ruleset

Unprotected: Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs.
Equal Opportunity: All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.
Going the Distance: Only Monsters with Ranged attack my be used in battles.

This is a middle mana ruleset game and only two color is available to play the Life, Water plus the Dragon Splinter. I picked one of my favorite summoner and Splinter rom the game, which is Kelya from the Water. The Unprotected ruleset is not the best for Kelya, because it removes the +1 armor he provides, but my goal was to gain advantage of his speed buff.

There was only ranged attack monsters available, so I had to choose carefully what to pick, because if they start to fell into the first position they can not attack anymore.

My Team Composition

image.png
Kelya Frendul is a four mana Summoner who gives +1 speed and armor to all of his friendly monsters. In this battle he got countered hard, but I had to pick him to choose one of the best ranged attack monsters available in the game.
image.png
Wave Brood is a best tank for this battle, because he has huge health and he is able too attack from the first position liek a proper tank.
image.png
It is quite expensive to rent Igor Darkspear on this level, because he cost only 2 mana, has 2 ranged damage and has the Stun ability, which can easily decide a battle if it triggers.
image.png
The Gargoya Devil is a very good ranger as long as it comes damaging his target, but unfortunately he doesn't have too much health and even his armor got confiscated in this battle.
image.png
The Supply Runner as the name suggest is here to supply some speed for my team and hopefully my monsters will be the first to attack in every round.
image.png
The Kulu Swimhunter is a low mana cost monster with a a lot of damage and speed, so he will helps a lot to kill the monster in the first position.
image.png
The Axemaster is the best from the ranged attack monsters in the game compare to his cost. He attacks twice in every round and his speed is quite high in order to maximise his damage.

My strategy worked as I wanted, because the speed difference made my team to attack first even though my opponent brought the perfect counter against my team, which was Quix the Devious. That summoenr gives -1 ranged and speed to all my monsters, but my monsters were still able to attack first.

My team managed to kill two of his monsters in the first round and I think they were just the lure to buff up his Drybone Raider, which looks quite strong. Luckily my Wavebrood stood strong in the first position and we killed another monster thanks to the Opportunity ability on my monsters.

The speed difference helped a lot to kill all of his monsters apart from the Drybone Raider in the second round, so my team needed to concentrate their attack only on this monster.

He only had 3 speed, so my team made a full attack against him where he didn't have a chance to survive. 😀

Do you like Equal Opportunity? Why or why not?

Yes I like it, because I am able to focus my damage on the enemy backlien instead of just hitting their mega tank in the front with all the supports backing it up. This ruleset allows me to change the perspective of a battle in order to try and kill the enemy backline first. Also if I use a monster with the Taunt ability it will allows me to control all the incoming Opportunity damage into it and protect my backline as long as he is alive. 👍
