Equalizer Ruleset

image.png

Description:

All unit start with the same health, based on the highest health on either team.

Buffs and debuffs are done afterward - this impacts base health.

Don't use high HP monsters and focus on high damage. Try to use a lot of monsters as well. Having a Tank Heal, Thorns, Triage for defense helps a lot.

The Battle Ruleset

Equalizer: The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.
Fire&Regret: All Monsters have the Return Fire ability.

This is a middle mana ruleset game and four color is available to play, which is the Fire, Life, Death and Dragon Splinters. The available Splinters are more than enough to choose whatever your playstyle is, but you have to keep it in mind that the Fire and Regret ruleset will reflect all the ranged attack damage back to their source.

The reflected damage is not that much, but without the Equalizer ruleset it might be significant against a low health ranged attack monster.

Either side of the monsters will have the same amount of health, which usually is huge, so a monster or summoner with the Triage ability might be beneficial, because they will be able to heal their backline.

My Team Composition

image.png

Tarsa gives +1 melee attack and health to all of her monsters, which is a huge advantage for a mostly melee attack team and I have to try to take advantage of that picking some of the best low budget melee attack monsters.

image.png

The Dumacke Orc is a very good tank and cost 6 mana. Generally he doesn't have too much health, but he has a lot of armor instead. He is the perfect candidate for the Equalizer ruleset, because his health will be the same like the rest of the monsters on the battlefield.

His other advantage is his superior attack damage, which is four, but Tarsa will increase that to five even on level one.

image.png

The Clockwork Aide cost onyl four mana and he is a high armor monster the same like my Orc with only one health, which will be increased to the same health like the other monsters on the battlefield. He doesn't have any attack, but he has the Swiftness ability, which will increase the speed of all of his friendly monsters.

image.png

The Tenyii Striker is a must have monster of a fully melee attack team when I use the Fire Splinter, because he has a lot of melee attack damage with the Sneak ability for only 5 mana cost, so he will target the last monster from the enemy team.

image.png

The Sand Worm is the perfect addition for Tarsa and a Sneak team, because he has an absolutely astonishing melee attack damage, which will be further increased by one thanks to Tarsa. He also has the Sneak ability, so he will attack the last monster from the enemy team as well.

image.png

The Uraeus cost only 3 mana, so he is an easy fit into any kind of team. He has only one armor, but that is perfectly enough to block one incoming melee or ranged attack damage. The Uraeus is also a Sneak* monster, so he will join to my Sneak attack monsters easily.

The Ildri Fyre cost six mana and she doesn't have any attack at all. Her main role in this battle is her Taunt ability, which means all of the enemy monsters except their tank will attack this monster as long as she lives. This might allow me some extra time to finish off my opponent monsters quicker than him.

For some reason my opponent brought Quix the Devious for this battle, which is a bit odd, because he gives -1 speed and ranged attack to all of my monsters. I wouldn't use ranged attack monsters for this battle, because of the Fire and Regret ruleset, so maybe he wants to use some of his Dragon monsters instead.

OoOops he didn't bring any of those as well, so it is strange for me his choice of summoner here.

The first round was amazing, because my Sneak attack trio succesfully killed their Crystalsmith who was even resurrected back to life as well.

In the second round I have lost my Ildri, but she served her job quite well directing their attack damage to herself. In the meantime my trio killed their Adelade as well, so only four more monsters left on his side.

In the next round my Dumacke Orc died against their magic damage, but my team killed their Time Mage as well. As long as my team is able to kill one monster per round we are good to go.

In the fourth round his Djinn Renova died and in the fifth his Sunkai followed her.

Even though his Imperial Knight had a self heal ability the incoming melee attack damage from my trio was way too much to sustain and my team easily won the battle for me. 😉

Do you like Equalizer? Why or why not?

I like the Equalizer ruleset, because I will be able to use monsters, such as my Orc or Clockwork Aide with a full health instead of just one. This will allow me to use different monsters than usual in order to try to surprise my opponent if they are not prepared.
