BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge with Even Stevens Ruleset
Even Stevens ruleset
Only Monsters with even Mana costs may be used in battles.
Description:
Only units with even mana costs may be used.
This rule does not apply to summoners.
There are no special tricks for this ruleset, but having an idea of mana points of a few monsters helps in predicting what your opponent can and cannot use.
The Battle Ruleset
Earthquake: Non-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
This is a middle mana ruleset game and every color is available to play, except the Fire Splinters. This gave me a huge options to choose from and I tried to take advantage one of the best and strongest monster in the game which is the Chaos Dragon. He is also a Flying monster, which is quite good in the Earthquake ruleset.
My Team Composition
Camila Sungazer is an excellent summoner, because she cost only three mana and her ability is to decrease the melee attacks of all the enemy monsters by one.
Harklaw is an amazing tank for this battle even if he doesn't know how to Fly, because the Shield ability will also reduce the Earthquake damage by half. The Demoralize further decrease the enemy melee attacks by one.
The Venari Bonesmith has the Life Leech ability, so he will increase his own health a bit against the Earthquake damage. If he manages to Poison his target that will die very quickly.
The Corpse Fiend is just a decoy if the enemy bring too much damage and he gives +1 health to my Riftwing if he dies.
The Riftwing is a Flying monster and it is a perfect tank front of my Chaos Dragon, because he will increase his own health by one with every killed monster on the battlefield. The Headwinds also helps a lot to decrease the attack of the enemy ranged monsters.
The Chaos Dragon is simply the best monster in the Dragon splinter or maybe in the game. He is a Flyer, which is excellent and the Blind ability will provide a lot of protection against the enemy melee and ranged monsters. The Blast will deal a lot of indirect damage next to his targets and he will shoot randomly, so it is difficult to prepare against him.
The Naga Assassin has a lot of speed and I used her to protect my backline against the enemy Sneak monsters if my opponent would decide to bring any of those.

My opponent also brought a Chaos Dragon with Quix the Devious, with the same color like me, but with a slight difference on the other monsters. In the beginning in the battle I lost my weak Corpse Fiend, but apart from that not much happened. All the monsters survived the first Earthquake damage as well.
In the third round we were having almost the same monsters in the fight and it is almost impossible to predict what is going to happen.
My Harklaw stood firm in the first position and he and the Riftwing soaked a bit more damage than my opponent monsters and my Chaos Dragon were able to deal much more damage against his Dragon, which gave me the chance to win this battle.
Do you like Even Stevens? Why or why not?
The Even Stevens is an interesting ruleset and I kinda like it more than the odd one, because it is much easier to choose even monsters from almost any other splinter than odd cards. This ruleset is helping to reduce the options from each side and predict the outcome much better as long as you are not using a monster with the Scattershot ability. 😅
