BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge with Even Stevens
Even Stevens ruleset
Description:
Only units with even mana costs may be used.
This rule does not apply to summoners.
There are no special tricks for this ruleset, but having an idea of mana points of a few monsters helps in predicting what your opponent can and cannot use.
The Battle Ruleset
FabFour: Up to four Units can be used.
Fog of War: Monsters lose the Sneak and Snipe abilities.
This is a high mana ruleset game and only two color is available to play the Water and Life Splinter. I like to play with high mana cost battles, because I will be able to use whatever I like. This is especially true when one or two ruleset reduces the monster pool like the *Even Stevens.
There is a new ruleset in this battle, which was introduced recently and that is the FabFour, which means that only four monster can play in the battle. This makes a bit more difficult to assemble my team, but the total mana cost is nice.
The Fog of War ruleset will eliminate the use of the Sneak* and Snipe abilities, so it is important to use a solid tank and maybe a nice support to mitigate as much damage as possible.
My Team Composition
Lobb Lowland is a six mana Summoner who can use one Gladiator card in the battle and he will decrease the speed of the enemy monsters. The Gladiator cards are pretty strong, because they have the Bloodlust ability, which means that if they kill a monster their stats will increase by one permanently with each kill.
Grund is very good tank and damage dealer for this game, because he cost a lot of mana and he is able to deal a huge amount of damage, because he has four melee attack and the Double Strike ability, which means that he will attack twice in every round. Unfortunately he doesn't have too much defense apart from his high health.
The Cornealus is my second tank in this battle, because he has big health and he can heal himself up in every round. On his level 2 he will receive the Thorns ability, which means that he will reflect half the incoming melee attack back to his attackers. Sadly he is a ranged attack monster, so he will be unable to attack from the first position, but his most important role will be to sustain as much as damage possible.
Quora Towershead is a most strongest Gladiator card in the whole game, because she has two separate attack (melee and magic) and if she kills a monster all of her stats will increase by one. The most powerful on her is the Heal ability as well, so she is pretty invincible as long as the enemy team doesn't bring any monster with the Affliction ability.
Mitica Headhunter cost 8 mana and she has an amazing damage stats. She has five speed and five ranged attack with six health. Her health is not that much, but thanks to the Fog of War ruleset she is completely safe at the back of my backline.

My opponent tried to bring a nice combo into the battle and that is Possibilus with the Coastal Sentry who also has the Double Strike ability with four attack damage. On her own she could not attack, but Possibilus gives her the Reach ability, so she will be able to attack from the second position as well.
The speed difference meant a lot in this battle, because my Grund was way faster than his Arkemis, so my team was able to attack quicker than my opponent monsters, but their monsters were a bit stronger than mine, so they killed my tank quicker than we could kill theirs. Luckily his Arkemis had only one health left and he attacked my Cornealus and he died against his Thorns damage.
In the second round I lost my Cornealus as well, because that Sentry dealt a lot of damage already. In the same round my Mitica finally killed her, so only two monsters left on each team.
Unfortunately my Quora couldn't level up herself, but at least she was continuosly healing herself, so as soon as my team killed his Djinn Oshannus it was easy to finish off the battle.
Do you like Even Stevens? Why or why not?
I like this ruleset, but only if there is enough mana to choose whichever monster I want, because the monster pool will be only half as usual, so I need to setup different strategy for this battle.
