Why I'm voting against the Splinterlands survey proposal

Hi,

today we have a proposal on Splinterlands, where it is voted that the land survey shall be introduced to improve the land.

I voted fully against it, and why you should also. As I have 1 tract, which translates into 100 plots.

I think this is another way to take money from the players without defining even what people will get instead.

Here are some reasons, besides the new opportunity to spend money:

  • at the time the land was sold, there was no discussion about the potions
  • it is a forced expense, as people who invested, don't want to have the purchase degraded
  • there is no explanation on the rarities and availability of those
  • we don't know what influence it has
  • we don't know if it is worth to pay for each land 10000 DEC
  • it is like asking for additional money for a product that has been sold
  • team does not have a clue on what they are selling the extra tax:

  • it is like asking for additional money for a product that has been sold
  • it will drop the SPS price again, as most will unstake and sell it for DEC
  • money sinks can be done much easier with expensive buildings on the land plots

Here are some proposals to make it a better version, if this nonsense get's approved:

  • the 10k DEC shall be seen as credit for the building upgrades on the land
  • bring the land economics in the next days out, before the proposal vote expires
  • If regions and tracts are split, let people have the benefit of having the same value for tracts, now the single plot owners are screwed, as the guarantee goes only to tracts and above.
  • deliver first, and after that ask for money

I'm not complaining about Splinterlands in general, only about this proposal, which is again a method to milk investors, to fix an error, that players are not responsible for.

If you would like to play the game, give it a try at Splinterlands.

If you want to automate some of your Splinterlands activities, like renting, try Splex.

I have yet to read this as I do not currently have the funds to buy land but I will read it soon.

I think making a game like the real world drains the fun out of it. How many players would have become fans of FF or Zelda if it had taxes and the like? I do not think I have ever played a game where the players have been penalized outside of dying due to a stupid mistake. It should not be happening on Blockchain either.

Me neither. And Splinterlands have not done punishments in the beginning either. It was good for everyone. It was one of my favorite video games in/around 2019. Once the game became popular, the developers became greedy, and they are ruining the game with their decisions for the poor players. The worst is decreasing rewards in the lower leagues, and decreasing the rewards for using base set cards. The Splinterlands developers would like to milk every cent from the players. Some people say that they encouraging them to invest. But this is rather forcing. As I wrote in my other comment, very sad to see how the developers ruined Splinterlands in the recent past.

it is a forced expense

Nowadays the whole Splinterlands game feels this way. A pay-to-win game. And too frustratingly hard. Ruined by the bots. The developers are increasing the rewards in the higher leagues, and decreasing/punishing it in the lowers leagues and the starter card users. If we see it this way, then this is almost literally forcing people to invest. Or scaring, pushing them away. Splinterlands was very different in the past. Mostly in/around 2019. It was a very good, very enjoyable game for everyone. It was one of my favorite video games. I bought the Beta starter set on 2018.12.30. Very sad to see how the developers ruined it in the recent past.

I agree with you - it feels like airlines that sell you a ticket, then charge an airport fee, then a seat selection fee, then a bag fee, then offer you a beverage and say "if you pay extra you might just get a special beverage!"

Not sure who this helps other than people who have a lot of DEC and are wondering why they aren't making millions off this game anymore.

I only have one PLOT, so I could afford to flush DEC down the toilet to try not to fall further behind, but it really does not seem like it serves the average player very well at all.
