Melee Mayhem And Global Warming Destroyed Everything - What was my strategy in 45 mana battle?

Today’s 45 mana battle gave me a chance to play an amazing match and the biggest thing was that the rules were extremely dangerous. These rules truly turned the battle into a difficult challenge and forced me to enter with a very tough strategy.

In today’s 45 mana battle I selected five monsters while the enemy team selected six monsters. Since it was a high mana battle we had a great opportunity to choose strong monsters and enter the battle with a solid lineup.

The very first thing we always need to observe in battle is the ruleset. This time there were three modifiers and all three were hard type rules.

MELEE MAYHEM

The first rule was Melee Mayhem which means all units gain the ability to use melee attacks from any position. Before explaining its impact let me mention that melee attackers are those units that normally attack only from the front position.

because of this modifier your melee attackers can attack from anywhere on the battlefield and target enemy units from any position. This makes melee monsters extremely dangerous in battle. If you have not enough melee attackers then you will surely lack in this type of battle.

LOST LEGENDARIES

The second rule was Lost Legendaries meaning you cannot summon or use any legendary units in the battle. This rule forced both teams to rely on common, rare and epic units instead of powerful legendary cards.

GLOBAT WARMING

The third modifier was Global Warming where all units receive the Burning status effect at the start of each round. Burning units lose two health every round and there is also a 33% chance for the burning effect to spread to adjacent units.

Because of this ruleset battles become very short. Normally a battle may continue for seven or eight rounds but due to the burning damage and enemy attacks together battles often finish within three or four rounds.

WHAT'S MY STRATEGY

Keeping these three rules in mind I selected my best monsters. I decided to use an Archon with a +1 speed ability because I had multiple melee attackers. Since melee attackers could attack from every position due to Melee Mayhem increasing their speed meant they could strike faster and perform more effectively.

With this strategy in mind I first selected two tank monsters with strong armor and high health. Both frontline tanks were also powerful melee attackers. After that I selected additional units including melee, ranged and magic attackers.

The role of my melee attackers was to continuously pressure the enemy with nonstop attacks. I also added a ranged attacker with high health because I believed it would deliver strong performance throughout the battle.

Alongside that I selected a magic attacker because enemy teams in such battles usually rely heavily on armored monsters and magic attacks directly target health instead of armor. This combination created a balanced strategy.

After considering all three rules carefully I finalized my lineup and entered the battle with a special positioning setup.

At the beginning the battle went very well and both sides fought strongly. However in the final rounds, I felt weak against the enemy’s better selection and strategy which eventually led to my defeat. Still this battle taught me many valuable lessons about how I can improve my future battles and make even stronger strategies next time.

In this battle the combination of Vengeful Monk and Sturdy Axe Warden performed brilliantly. Both belonged to melee and ranged attack categories and both had excellent health stats as well.
