The Silver Surfers ~ Splinterlands X Social Media Challenge
Hello, splinter-folk. I hope you all are doing well.
Today, I will share a battle with you guys that had all the odds stacked against me and my opposition. Yet, the victory went to the one who foresaw how things would go down once the battle started.
Without further ado, let's begin!
Battle Conditions
The mana cap is 26 and there are 4 summoners to choose from: Nature, Life, Death, and Dragon.
Battle Rules:-
- Earthquake: Non-flying monsters take 2 damage at the end of each round.
- Fire and Regret: All monsters have the Return Fire ability.
- Keep Your Distance: Monsters with Melee attacks may not be used in battle.
Keeping the battle rules and mana cap in mind, I had to choose the Death summoner as it had that 1 monster I was about to bet the game on. All other monsters would support it from the sides.
Battle Details
Let's start from my side:
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: *Decrease in HP and Magic damage for all enemy monsters)(Level 5).
Tank: Cthulu(Ability: Cripple, Flying).
Ranged Attacker: Venari Marksrat(Ability: Martyr).
Magic Attackers: Revealer(Ability: Stun), Venari Bonesmith(Ability: Life Leech, Poison).
My strategy was to have the most underrated and forgotten monster with massive HP and flying ability as the tank while it would get a stats boost through Marksrat, along with the stun user. I chose Bonesmith in the back because it could soak up HP from the enemy monsters and take a few hits should my opposition use a sneak attacker.
My overall damage per round is 7. Adding in the martyr and poison effects, it comes to 10 damage per round.
Now, it's time for the opposition:
Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Ability: *Decrease in HP and Magic damage for all enemy monsters)(Level 3).
Tank: Chaos Agent(No Ability).
Non-Attackers: Riftwing(Ability: Flying, Scavenger), Furious Chicken(No Ability).
Magic Attacker: Life Sapper(Ability: Life Leech).
Ranged Attackers: Soul Strangler(No Ability), Dhampir Stalker(Ability: Aim True).
His strategy was to use his ranged attackers in the back to do in my tank and the units to come forward all while the useless monsters would fall and allow his Riftwing gain more HP. He used one magic attacker before his ranged attacker with low HP for the ranged attackers to get a tank should all the units in front of them fall. He also used a chicken in the back to take in the damage from potential sneak attackers.
His overall damage per round is 6 with a potential 5 HP increase.
Major Events
In the first quarter of the game, his tank fell, no surprise there.
After half the game went by, one of his ranged attackers fell thanks to the battle rules.
Near the end of the round, my Marksrat fell and I got the stats boost while his Riftwing gained another HP.
At the beginning of the round, all of his monsters except for Riftwing fell thus it got a 3 HP boost. This is also where his Riftwing gets afflicted with poison thanks to my Bonesmith.
At the start of the round, my Revealer fell giving his Riftwing another HP.
Lastly, his Riftwing fell thanks to the poison status made by my Bonesmith.
Results
I believe that Cthulu is a forgotten monster that needs more usage since its traits of attack power and huge HP with flying ability are things that cannot be taken lightly. Additionally, my overall HP was higher than his giving me an edge over the game while keeping the battle rules in mind. He may not have seen the Fire and Regret in the rules, otherwise, he would not have used the ranged attackers who were to get hit over their own damage which further added to my overall damage per round.
