Why I Can't Ascend To The Higher Leagues? | Battle Mage Secrets

Hello splinter-folk. I hope you all are doing well.

With the new season, I was thrown off to the Bronze Leagues. I couldn't rise to the Silver Leagues because I lacked about 200 ratings. But, today I climbed up to Bronze 1 and soon will be at Silver 3. Sadly, I am stuck in the same rating as before.

Today, I will be sharing a battle that defines properly why I am locked in the Bronze leagues and just cannot rise to the Silver Leagues. Not because I lack strategy but because I just do not have the monsters I need to beat these high-level players.

Battle Conditions

The mana cap was 99 and there were 5 summoners to choose from: Fire, Water, Nature, Life, and Death. I chose DEath summoner Thaddius Brood since I had a good number of monsters and very effective ones for total mayhem or so I thought.

Battle Rules:

  • Up to Eleven: All monsters have the Amplify ability.

Battle Details

Let's start from my side:

Summoner: Thaddius Brood(Trait: Reduction in HP and magic damage to all enemy monsters).

Tank: Cursed Windeku(Ability: Thorns).

Melee Attackers: Arachne Thug(Ability: Reach), Silent Sha-vi(Ability: Sneak).

Blocked Attackers: Night Ghoul(Ability: Taunt).
Ranged Attackers: Dhampir Stalker(Ability: Aim True).
Magic Attackers: Kain Hace(Ability: Blast, Reflection Shield).

My strategy was to divert all the enemy attacks over to Ghoul while all my other attackers would attack from the back. Only 1 attack would do a bit of damage from the back. All the attacking monsters would have less chance to miss since they had high speed and true aim on my ranged attacker.

The total damage output was 14. Adding in the thorn damage, it would be 16 per round.

Summoner: Lobb Lowland(Ability: All enemy monsters have their speed reduced by 1).

Tank: Grund(Ability: Double Strike).
Ranged Attacker: Fungus Flinger(Ability: Martyr), Ava The Undaunted(Ability: Weapon Training).
Magic attackers: Quora Towershead(Ability: Bloodlust, Heal), Goblin Psychic(Ability: Tank Heal).
Non attacking monsters: Thane Newsong(Ability: +1 melee attacking to all ally units that had melee attacks)

To start off, his bloodlust monster is one of a kind monster that has 2 type of attacks: magic and melee. I don’t have this one and to top it off he kept his Flinger in front of it to get that martyr effect and he also had Thane that already increased its attacking power. That way, his whole attacking deck depended on the survivability of this bloodthirsty monster. Meanwhile, his Goblic would heal up all those in the tank’s position. That was quite a strategy.

His overall damage per round was 16 with 2 heal toward the tank. The damage would increase should his bloodlust trigger.

Major Events

Round 1

Screenshot (64).png

The first monster to fall was his Grund with my tank in a bad shape.

Screenshot (65).png

It quickly turned into a 4 v 6 as his Flinger died away giving Quora what she needed, the damage boost and speed buff was all it needed to quickly damage me from the front.

Round 2

Screenshot (68).png

Quora easily exterminates Windeku and triggers bloodlust.

Screenshot (69).png

The lowest my units were able to bring the HP of Quora was 7.

Round 3

Screenshot (70).png

Next, Quora slaughtered up my Arachne and triggered bloodlust again.

Screenshot (71).png

My units were unable to damage any further as at this point, everyone was offered up to his bloodthirsty monster.

Round 4

Screenshot (72).png

Quora deletes my Stalker and triggers bloodlust* again and it was brought to a 2 v 2 with me in the short end of the stick.

Round 5

The game ends with meye monsters being used up as bloodlust triggering as Quora deletes the Sha-vi.

Results

I might’ve won if he had used up normal monsters since my strategy was for simple decks only. His Quora was the one monster that took away 5 of my monsters and gained up its attributes.
