Magic Be Dashed! Cards to beat Magic in Chaos Legion

(Edited)

Without a doubt, Magic is both strong and prolific in Chaos Legion. This is most notable in the lower leagues. It can be difficult to identify any counters to it out of the Chaos Legion set, especially if you are new and upcoming player.

The aim of this post to go through each of the Splinters to find cards that will help you defeat magic and where you can play them in your team composition.

Fire Splinter

Card: Tusk The Wide
Counter Magic Available From: Level 1
Specific Counter: Void

All that stands in the way of Magic in the Fire Splinter is Tusk The Wide. His counter to Magic is available from Level 1 with the Void ability. This gives him reduced damaged from Magic attacks. He is effective from Novice and Bronze leagues onwards. Tusk is best employed in the first position as a tank due to his high health. His counter to Magic is to absorb as much damage as possible for as long as possible while the damage dealers in the Fire Splinter take out the enemy monsters.

Water Splinter

Card: Angelic Mandarin
Counter Magic Available From: Level 8
Specific Counter: Silence

The first card in the Water Splinter who can help you defeat Magic is Angelic Mandarin. Their counter is the use of the ability Silence. Which reduces the Magic attack of all enemy monsters. However, this ability isn't available until Level 8. This means that is only available in Diamond league and above. Angelic Mandarin is best employed in the backline of your team composition which makes them a strong support with decent health and some damage. Their real value lies in their abilities.

Card: Wave Brood
Counter Magic Available From: Level 4
Specific Counter: Void

The second card in the Water Splinter is Wave Brood. Their counter to Magic is the use of the Void ability. This gives him reduced damaged from Magic attacks. Void only becomes available at Level 4 so his Magic counter is available in Gold league and above. Wave Brood can be employed as a tank in first position or in the last position. They are effective at strong backline defence and the taunt ability draws magic uses to engaging them first. Void coupled with their high health means that they can stay alive for longer.

Card: Baakjira
Counter Magic Available From: Level 1
Specific Counter: Void

The third and final card that can help counter Magic is the newly released legendary Baakjira. Their counter to Magic is the use of the Void ability. This gives him reduced damaged from Magic attacks. Void is available from Level 1 which means that they are employable from Novice and Bronze leagues onwards. Baakjira is best employed as a tank in the first position due to their high health.

Earth Splinter

Card: Goblin Psychic
Counter Magic Available From: Level 7
Specific Counter: Silence

Quite surprisingly, Earth Splinter only currently has one card in Chaos Legion to counter Magic and that is Goblin Psychic. They will use the Silence ability as their counter. Which reduces the Magic attack of all enemy monsters. It is available from Level 7 which means it can be used in Gold League and above. Goblin Psychic is a strong support with decent damage and is best employed in the middle or backline of your team composition.

Life Splinter

Card: Blinding Reflector
Counter Magic Available From: Level 5
Specific Counter: Magic Reflect

The first card in the Life Splinter is Blinding Reflector. He uses the Magic Reflect ability to counter Magic. When hit with Magic, lessened damaged is reflected back on the attacker. This ability is available from Level 5 which means he is effective from the Silver League and onwards. Blinding Reflector is best employed as a tank in the first position with his combination of armour and health that is enhanced by Magic Reflect.

Card: Gargoya Scrapper
Counter Magic Available From: Level 3
Specific Counter: Void

The second card in the Life Splinter is the under appreciated Gargoya Scrapper. His counter is the use of the Void ability. This gives him reduced damaged from Magic attacks. It is available from Level 3 which means he is effective from Bronze League onwards. Gargoya Scrapper doesn't have much health but he is also only 1 mana. He is best employed in the second position or to protect the backline from Magic attacks.

Card: Prismologist
Counter Magic Available From: Level 6
Specific Counter: Silence

The last card in the Life Splinter is Prismologist. She uses the Silence ability to counter Magic. Which reduces the Magic attack of all enemy monsters. That ability is available from Level 6 which means it is only available from Diamond and above. Prismologist is a very strong backline card for your team composition that can really pack a punch.

Death Splinter

Card: Thaddius Brood
Counter Magic Available From: Level 1
Specific Counter: Minus 1 Magic Damage

The first card for the Death Splinter is the only Summoner to feature, Thaddius Brood. They offer the minus 1 Magic Damage to all enemy monsters. This is available from Level 1 and can be used in any league; Novice and above.

Card: Djinn Muirat
Counter Magic Available From: Level 1 and Level 3
Specific Counter: Void Armour and Magic Reflect

The next card in the Death Splinter is the Djinn Muirat. He actually has two different abilities to counter Magic that are available at different levels. He has Void Armour at Level 1 which means that incoming Magic attacks hit armour before health. This can be employed from Novice League and above. The second ability is Magic Reflect at Level 3 which means when he hit with Magic, lessened damaged is reflected back on the attacker. This can be employed at Gold League and above. This makes Djinn Muirat a great off-tank but also a very strong backline contender. Depending on certain rulesets he also excels in the first position.

Card: Corpse Fiend
Counter Magic Available From: Level 4
Specific Counter: Silence

The last card in the Death Splinter is the Corpse Fiend. His counter to Magic is the Silence ability. This reduces the Magic attack of all enemy monsters. This is only available from Level 4 which means it will only work in Diamond League and above but it is a 0 cost mana card. Corpse Fiend is best employed in the middle or back of your lineup to protect it with it's low health.

Dragon Splinter

Card: Void Dragon
Counter Magic Available From: Level 1 and Level 3
Specific Counter: Void and Phase

The only card in the Dragon Splinter is the Void Dragon. Void Dragon also has two different abilities to counter Magic. He has Void at Level 1 which gives him reduced damaged from Magic attacks. This can be employed from Novice League and above. The second ability is Phase which gives incoming Magic attacks a chance to miss. This is available at Level 3 and can be employed from Gold League and above. Void Dragon is a good off-tank and middle of the pack monster depending on your team composition.

Neutral Splinter

Card: Chaos Agent
Counter Magic Available From: Level 6
Specific Counter: Phase

The last splinter we will look at is the Neutral Splinter with the first card being, Chaos Agent. His counter to Magic is the Phase ability. This gives incoming Magic attacks a chance to miss. It is available from Level 6 which means it can be used in Gold League and above. Chaos Agent is great in low mana battles as to absorb hits both in the first position or in the backline.

Card: Xenith Monk
Counter Magic Available From: Level 6 and Level 8
Specific Counter: Void and Magic Reflect

The second card in the Neutral Splinter is Xenith Monk. This is another card that has two Magic counters. The first ability is Void which gives him reduced damaged from Magic attacks. This available from Level 6 which means it is only effective in Gold League and above. The second ability is Magic Reflect so when hit with Magic, lessened damaged is reflected back on the attacker. This is available at Level 8 and can be used in Diamond League and above. Xenith Monk is strong tank in the first position or second position and can really boost any team due to the lack of Magic counters across the entire Chaos Legion range.

Card: Legionnaire Alvar
Counter Magic Available From: Level 1
Specific Counter: Void Armour

The last card in the Neutral Splinter is Legionnaire Alvar. His counter to Magic is Void Armour which means incoming magic attacks must hit his armour before his health. This is available at Level 1 meaning he can be employed in Novice and Bronze Leagues onwards. Legionnaire Alvar is another strong tank who can fill the first position.

So that was quite a lot to look at but you can see that there really isn't much Magic counter in the Chaos Legion set. A lot of it begins to really come into effect in Gold and Diamond Leagues but there are a few that can be used right from the beginning in the lower leagues.

Hopefully this helps you counter those annoying Magic builds and as always. Magic be dashed!

!LUV it, I'm really excited about these cards,

I utilize Djinn Muirat and Alvar Legionnaire with Scavo Hireling to great effect!

I also like to pair Scavo Hireling with either Frost Lion or Venari Heatsmith for some extra low mana defense against magic.

Thank Jakkal. Yeah Scavo Hireling can be a great support that a lot of people overlook.
