What's going on with Voucher Token

Splinterlands has got a couple of tokens in its game ecosystem including DEC SPS and vouchers. While Dec is a stablecoin it is great that the token has got its value back after a long time. SPS is the governance coin which has also shown positive momentum in its price in the last few weeks and because of that, we can be happy since the prices are up for the token. Now the third one is the voucher token which was launched in 2021 when the Chaos Legion edition was revealed. This token has got very limited use case in the game whereas it is the token that helps us get some discount on the purchase. We get the discount using voucher tokens on different assets in the game. It is also applicable in the case of promotional events or sales that we often see getting launched in the game.

One of the biggest benefits I got for using the voucher was when I bought the Lux Vega Summoner which is available in the game in limited quantity and offers dual elements. It is the first-ever summoner for the neutral element and I was the lucky one to get this summoner at a pretty good price and got a hopping discount of 50% on the price. I am getting voucher tokens every day through my asset holding including SPS and node validator licence. There is a fixed reward for vouchers that I get through the node validator and this is distributed daily. I bought this node validator licence from the market when the price was $2000 and I paid 4000 hive coins for one licence however now the price is low. I get approximately 19 SPS along with four vouchers every day and this is why I have accumulated quite a good number of voucher tokens.

Voucher Price

This is the price chart for voucher tokens for three months in which you can see that the price has gone up and down a few times. Its price was increased when the pre-sale was started for the rebellion pack but after that, we can see a drop in the price. I'd like to mention here that this is the same token that was sold for more than 20 hives when the Chaos Legion was launched. This is because more people wanted to grab the airdrop for Dr Blight and this was the first time when some token was offering a good discount on the buy but later on that never happened. Now the price is too low which is roughly $0.034 or 0.09 hive.

Now I accumulate this token but in the past, I have converted multiple times voucher to sps when the price was good. Now since the price is not that good this is the reason why I am accumulating and waiting for the right price point when I can go for the SPS conversion again. I can't say when we are going to see a better price for this token but in my opinion, the current price is surely way low and this is the reason why I'm not fine to go for the conversion from voucher to sps.

My Holding

I have been accumulating vouchers and did not do any conversions in the last six months or maybe more because I don't remember exactly when I did the last time conversion. I get a fixed amount of vouchers through the node validator and also some amount I get through SPS holding as well. Now since the price is not good I have decided that I will continue accumulating these tokens and wait for the right price when I can think about selling the voucher and buying sps because anyway sps is one of the tokens that I am bullish on and it has got good utility in the game.

Voucher token struggles with the use case and I think the Splinterland team need to think about it. If they can add some use case to this token then I'm sure this is going to improve the token economy. This token has been at a similar price for a long time and the price spike can be seen only when there is some promotional sale launched in the game and after that, it is back to its previous price again.

Although now we have the option to use vouchers while buying the rebellion pack that entitles us to the discount and looks like this is not sufficient to boost the price. Something else is surely needed that can trigger the price increase for this token and I hope that the team splinterlands consider it soon. I'm sure that they are aware of the challenge that this token is facing and hopefully, they should be doing something to make it more valuable in the game. The team knows how to make things valuable in the game so we have to wait the time when they are going to do something with a voucher.
