Larry Is Alive 16 June 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for sunday, the 16th day of June, 2024. Happy sunday everyone. Today is also marked as "Fathers' Day. May I use this medium to wish all men and fathers alike a happy father's day celebration 🎊 🎉.

Meanwhile the UEFA European Championship continued yesterday with matches in group B with Spain playing against Croatia. Spain made a strong start to their quest for a fourth European Championship with a convincing victory over Croatia at Olympiastadion Berlin.
The Spaniards traunced Croatia (3-0).

At the BVB Stadion Dortmund, Holders Italy rallied for a hard-fought opening victory after Albania scored the fastest goal in a European Championship match. Nedim Bajrami made history after 23 seconds when he scored the opener but their joy was short-lived as Alessandro Bastoni headed home Lorenzo Pellegrini's inswinging delivery to turn the tide and eventually saw holders wining by (2-1).

Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 1963, Soviet astronaut Valentina V. Tereshkova became the first woman to travel in space, after being launched into orbit aboard the spacecraft Vostok 6, which completed 48 orbits in 71 hours.

From the world of space exploration, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 2017, Helmut Kohl, the German politician who oversaw the unification of East Germany into West Germany in 1990 and became the first chancellor of a united Germany since 1945, died at the age of 87 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein.

From Germany, Larry goes to China. He finds out that on this day in 2012, Liu Yang became China's first woman in space when she and two other crew members were launched onboard the spacecraft Shenzhou 9.

From China, Larry goes to South Africa. He finds out that on this day in 1976, South African police opened fire on a group of Soweto students walking to protest the state's plans to impose Afrikaans as a medium of instruction in Black schools, sparking a large popular rebellion.

From South Africa, Larry goes to the world of tech companies. He finds out that on this day in 1911, Leading American computer maker International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) was incorporated.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the world of industry and innovation. He finds out that on this day in 1903, Henry Ford and eleven other associate investors founded the Ford Motor Company.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
