Larry Is Alive April 03, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for wednesday, the 3rd day of April, 2024. The EPL continued with some exciting matches. Table toppers, Arsenal overpowered Luton by (2-0) at the Emirates Stadium while title hopeful and current champions kept their title hopes alive by crushing Aston Villa (4-1) at the Etihad stadium. The match between Brendford vs Brighton ended in a (0-0) draw.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Panama. He finds out that on this day in 2016, Private papers from a Panama legal firm were made public, revealing how affluent customers conceal their income and avoid paying taxes; the "Panama Papers" were one of the largest exposures of sensitive information.

From Panama, Larry goes to the world of gadgets and technology. He finds out that on this day in 1973, an employee of Motorola made the first handheld mobile telephone call to AT&T's Bell Laboratories.

From the world of gadgets and technology, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1968, American civil rights hero Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his Mountaintop Speech at a sanitation workers strike rally in Memphis; the next day, he was assassinated.

From the USA, Larry goes to Japan. He finds out that on this day in 1946, Homma Masaharu, a Japanese army general, was hanged for forcing the Bataan Death March. The Bataan death march was a trekking wherein the Japanese military forced 76,000 prisoners of war (66,000 Filipinos, 10,000 Americans) to march 66 miles (106 km) through the Philippines in April 1942, during the early stages of World War II.

From Japan, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1930, Helmut Kohl, the chancellor of West Germany (1982-1990) and reunified Germany (1990-1998), was born in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the Soviet Union. He finds out that on this day in 1922, the Communist Party of the Soviet Union elected Joseph Stalin secretary-general, a post that gave him the foundation and base to impose his dictatorship.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
