Larry Is Alive April 04, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for thursday, the 4th day of April, 2024. The EPL continued with Manchester United in action against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. And oh, United! They lost yet again!!! Well, let's leave that for now. Liverpool however overcame Sheffield United (3-1) at Anfield.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Angola. He finds out that on this day in 2002, after 27 years of combat, the Angolan government and UNITA signed a cease-fire agreement, thus ending the country's civil war.

From Angola, Larry goes to South Korea. He finds out that on this day in 2000, South Korea's government ordered the closure of 85 percent of the country's livestock markets in an effort to contain an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease that had affected Asian livestock.

From South Korea, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1968, James Earl Ray assassinated Martin Luther King, Jr., an American civil rights leader who was in Memphis, Tennessee, to support a sanitation workers' strike.

From the USA, Larry goes to the world of technology and computers. He finds out that on this day in 1975, Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen and the company has grown to become the world's largest personal computer software corporation.

From the world of technology and computers, Larry goes to the field of medicine. He finds out that on this day in 1969, Denton Cooley, an American surgeon, implanted the first complete artificial heart in a human; the patient received a donor heart several days later but died shortly after.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the world of international organizations. He finds out that on this day in 1949, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States founded the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
