Larry Is Alive April 05, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for friday, the 5th day of April, 2024. Having lost to Chelsea midweek, all eyes are now set on the Liverpool match on Sunday at Old Trafford at 15:30 GMT. United should win the match to remain on course for at least a top 6 finish.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Chile. He finds out that on this day in 1818, Chile's independence movement led by José de San Martín and Bernardo O'Higgins defeated Spain in the Battle of Maipú, resulting in the deaths of 2,000 Spaniards and 1,000 Chilean patriots.

From Chile, Larry goes to Japan. He finds out that on this day in 2000, Mori Yoshiro of the Liberal-Democratic Party took over as Prime Minister of Japan, succeeding Obuchi Keizo, who had suffered a stroke earlier in the month and died.

From Japan, Larry goes to England. He finds out that on this day in 1588, the English philosopher and political theorist Thomas Hobbes, best known for his works on individual security and the social contract, was born.

From the USA, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 1973, Pharrell Williams, an American musician who has been engaged in a number of musical songs as a member of the Neptunes production team, a songwriter, and a solo performer was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia, U.S.A.

From the world of music and entertainment, Larry goes to Vietnam. He finds out that on this day in 1923, Nguyen Van Thieu, the President of the Republic of Vietnam (South Vietnam) from 1967 until its fall to North Vietnamese forces in 1975.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Chile. He finds out that on this day in 1879, the War of the Pacific began when Chile declared war on Bolivia and Peru over a region of the Atacama Desert rich in minerals. Chile ultimately prevailed in this conflict.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
