Larry Is Alive February 10, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for saturday, the 10th day of February, 2024. Happy weekend everyone.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from space exploration. He finds out that on this day in 1990, The spacecraft Galileo flew past Venus on its way to Jupiter.

From space exploration, Larry goes to the world of sports. He finds out that on this day in 1996, Deep Blue, an IBM chess-playing computer, and world chess champion Garry Kasparov started a six-round match in which Kasparov triumphed 4–2 (though Deep Blue won in a rematch the following year).

From the world of sports, Larry goes to Singapore. He finds out that on this day in 1952, Lee Hsien Loong, a Singaporean politician who became the third Prime Minister of Singapore in 2004 was born.

From Singapore, Larry goes to France. He finds out that on this day in 1755, Montesquieu, a French political philosopher whose main work, The Spirit of Laws, made a significant contribution to political philosophy, died in Paris.

From France, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1923, Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, a German physicist who received the first Nobel Prize in Physics in 1901 for his discovery of X-rays, which ushered in the age of modern physics and revolutionised diagnostic medicine, died in Munich, Germany.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1950, Mark Spitz, an American swimmer who became the first athlete to win seven gold medals in a single Olympics at Munich in 1972, was born in Modesto, California, U.S.A.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
