Larry Is Alive February 11, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for sunday, the 11th day of February, 2024. Happy sunday everyone

Congratulations to Ivory Coast for hosting and winning the AFCON 2023. They had just came from behind to defeat the Super Eagles of Nigeria by (2-1) few minutes ago. The Super Eagles gave it all but could not win. Maybe they need to improve in their performance come next AFCON in Morocco 2024.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 2012, Whitney Houston, an American rhythm-and-blues singer who became a pop phenomenon in the 1980s and was most known for her soaring vocals, died at the age of 48 in Beverly Hills, California.

From the world of music and entertainment, Larry goes to Egypt. He finds out that on this day in 2011, After nearly 30 years in office, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned in the wake of large-scale protests that were a component of the Arab Spring, a wave of pro-democracy upheavals.

From Egypt, Larry goes to Singapore. He finds out that on this day in 1990, Nelson Mandela was freed from jail after serving 27 years, and he then started talks with President F.W. de Klerk to end apartheid in South Africa.

From South Africa, Larry goes to the world of religion. He finds out that on this day in 1989, The Reverend Barbara Harris, of the Protestant Episcopal Church, became the Anglican Communion's first female bishop.

From the world of religion, Larry goes to England. He finds out that on this day in 1975, Margaret Thatcher, a British politician, was elected leader of the Conservative Party, succeeding Edward Heath. She became Europe's first female prime minister in 1979.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Japan. He finds out that on this day in 1947, Hatoyama Yukio, a Japanese politician who served as Prime Minister of Japan from 2009 to 2010, after his Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) removed the long-ruling Liberal-Democratic Party (LDP) from power, was born in Tokyo, Japan.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
