Larry Is Alive March 19, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for tuesday, the 19th day of March, 2024. Happy Tuesday everyone. The bull run is still on. Although nothing is steady in this volatile space. It goes up and down. Hive is not left out too. It has enjoyed the wave ride. Let's see how long it will last.

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Iraq. He finds out that on this day in 2003, US President George W. Bush launched air assaults on Baghdad, kicking off the Iraq War to depose tyrant Saddam Hussein, who was believed (incorrectly) to be building weapons of mass destruction.

From Iraq, Larry goes to the Philippines. He finds out that on this day in 1996, one of the biggest fires in Philippine history ripped through a Manila discotheque, killing 159 of the 400 people inside the nightclub, which was designed to contain no more than 35.

From the Philippines, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 1931, Nevada legalised gambling, paving the way for casinos throughout the state, most notably in Las Vegas.

From the USA, Larry goes to Germany. He finds out that on this day in 1906, Adolf Eichmann, a high-ranking German officer who was executed by the State of Israel for his role in the Holocaust, the Nazi extermination of the Jews during WWII, was born in Solingen, Germany.

From Germany, Larry goes to England. He finds out that on this day in 1821, Sir Richard Burton, an English scholar-explorer and orientalist, and the first European to discover Lake Tanganyika and enter hitherto prohibited Muslim cities was born in Torquay, Devonshire, England.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Italy. He finds out that on this day in 1943, Mario Monti, an Italian economist, scholar, and administrator who served as Prime Minister of Italy from 2011 to 2013 was born in Varese, Italy.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
