Battle Mage Secrets - Aimless

Greetings Summoners! Welcome to the Battle Mage Secrets. The Battle Mage Secrets is a challenge where every week players must test their strategic skills in battle for specific rules.

This week the specific rule is "Aimless". This rule gives all monsters the Scattershot ability, which means that the monsters' attack hits a random enemy target.

This is a battle rule introduced in Splinterlands recently. Personally I find it a bit of a tricky rule, as it is unpredictable because you can't know which monster will be attacked. However, I think it is possible to strategize around this rule to try to have more advantage in battle. So let's take a look at the rules, the team, the strategy and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules & Strategy

This is a 27 mana battle with the "Aimless" rule. All elements except Earth are allowed.

AimlessAll monsters have the Scattershot ability.
  • To benefit as much as possible from the Aimless rule, we will try to use as many monsters as possible. In this way, the damage of enemy monsters with the Scattershot ability is divided among more monsters.

  • Another important part of our strategy will be to use a magic damage composition. Does magic damage is very important. Monsters with magic attack may do damage from any row, since this form of attack ignores the defender’s Armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). Unless there is a monster with Phase on the enemy's team, magic attack will always hit. There is no miss chance.

  • Finally, I think it is very important to use monsters with high speed in this ruleset, as it will allow us to attack first. If we manage to kill an enemy monster before our opponent does, we will have a great advantage in the battle.

My Lineup

The oldest AZMARÉan Summoner, Alric Stormbringer, founded the modern arts of Chaos Magic. He has many pupils from around the Splinterlands. Alric’s gift is not so much bringing the storm, but channeling it. He has lived for hundreds of years, and some stories claim he was alive before the Splintering.

Alric Stormbringer: I really like this summoner as it gives +1 magic attack to all friendly magic attack monsters.

Djinn Oshannus: Djinn Oshannus is an amazing magic attack card that can be used as a tank due to its high Speed and HP. In addition, its "Void" ability reduces damage from Magic attacks.

Creeping Ooze: Ooze is one of those cards that fits very well into almost any composition. I find it especially good in low mana games thanks to its "Slow" ability, which reduces the attack speed of all enemy monsters allowing our monsters to attack first and have less chance to miss.

Musa Saline: This card gains 1 max health each time any monster dies. It becomes stronger and stronger every time a monster dies.

Venari Wavesmith: This card gives +2 armor to all friendly monsters. I think it is very useful since none of our monsters have armor. Armor will allow us to resist more attacks from enemy monsters with melee and ranged attacks.

Mischievous Mermaid: This card is incredibly fast. The high speed is very important as it allows us to attack first and dodge melee and ranged attacks.

Ice Pixie: I choose Ice Pixie as my sixth and last card position because it has a decent Speed and Flying ability, which gives him a more chance to dodge monsters with melee and ranged attacks.

Round 1 - My opponent used a level 2 summoner. A level 2 summoner is very good since it allows the use of common cards at level 3, rare cards at level 2, epic cards at level 2 and legendary cards at level 1.

Round 2 - We have been able to kill 3 enemy monsters without any allied monsters dying.

Round 3 - The enemy player could only kill one monster. Deeplurker managed to kill Ooze due to his Opportunity ability, which allows him to target the enemy monster with the lowest HP.

Round 4 - In the last round the enemy player only had one monster with 2 HP left. He couldn't do anything against the 5 monsters we had left. We won the battle and got +16 rating points, +727 reward points and +0.039 SPS for this victory in the Bronze league.
