Battle Mage Secrets - Armored Up

Greetings Summoners! Welcome to Battle Mage Secrets. The Battle Mage Secrets is a challenge where every week players must test their strategic skills in battle for specific rules. This week the specific rule is "Armored Up":

  • All units get a +2 armor buff at the beginning of the game.

This battle was played in a Splinterlands tournament where only the Chaos Legion and Rebellion editions were allowed to play. It was in the "Summoners' Novice Beginner Training" tournament, so only level 1 cards were allowed. Let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules & Strategy

This is a 45 mana battle with 3 battle rules (Armored Up, Up to Eleven and Ferocity). All elements except Water and Dragon are allowed to play.

Strategy & Tips

  • Use Void Armor to ensure that magic attacks strike armor first.

  • Use Shatter or Piercing to destroy your opponent's armor more effectively.

  • A good tank and a balanced line up of Magic and Ranged monsters is a good idea.

  • Use a powerful Gladius card.

  • Try to use some magic attack monsters. Does magic damage is very important. Monsters with magic attack may do damage from any row, since this form of attack ignores the defender’s Armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). Unless there is a monster with Phase on the enemy's team, magic attack will always hit. There is no miss chance.

My Lineup

Lowland gorillas hail from the southern reaches of the Endless Valley in Praetoria’s Great Lowlands. They are highly intelligent, muscle-bound apes and formidable pugilists. It is said that a punch from one will knock your head clean off your shoulders. They are also extremely territorial and will protect their troop and their homes with their lives, although in the past, they usually spent most of their time fighting among themselves to prove their dominance.

Lobb Lowland: This summoner reduces all enemy monsters Speed by -1 and allows the use of one additional Gladiator card in battle.

Venari Knifer: This card is an amazing tank as he does damage back to the attacker thanks to its Thorns ability. This is very useful as it allows us to kill monsters faster.

Fungus Flinger: When this Monster dies, adjacent Monsters get +1 to all stats.

Quora Towershead: Incredibly powerful Gladius card that every time she defeats an opponent, she gets +1 to all stats. She is unstoppable.

Goblin Psychic: This card will help us to keep our tank alive as long as possible thanks to its Tank Heal ability, which restores a portion of the monster in the first position's health each round.

Venari Spellsmith: When this monster hit an enemy, it clears all positive status effects on that enemy thanks to its Dispel ability.

Uloth Dhampir: This monster has Stun. When a monster with Stun hits a target, it has a chance to stun the target causing it to skip its next turn.

This was a great battle. My opponent played very well. We have been able to make a solid team. We have managed to use a varied combination of different types of damage (melee, magic and ranged) and win the battle. I am happy with my victory and the strategy I used. I have won 20 SPS for finishing 1st in this tournament. I won 18 battles out of 21. It was amazing!

Personally I like the "Armored Up" rule because it protects unarmored monsters.
