Battle Mage Secrets - Back to Basics

imagen.png

Greetings Summoners! Welcome to Battle Mage Secrets. The Battle Mage Secrets is a challenge where every week players must test their strategic skills in battle for specific rules.

This week the specific rule is "Back to Basics". This rule makes all monsters lose all abilities.

Personally I like this rule since it is not necessary to have especially expensive monsters to rent or buy. Since all monsters lose their abilities, it will depend more on strategy to win the battle. So let's take a look at the rules, the team, the strategy and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules & Strategy

This is a 14 mana battle with the "Back to Basics" rule. All elements are allowed to play.

IconNameDescription
Back to BasicsMonsters lose all abilities.
  • Back row monsters are safe from enemy's Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity attacks. The ruleset places importance on Magic and Ranged attacks as melee attacks loose their ability to hit outside of the first position.

  • The summoner effects are still active, so try to use a summoner that increases damage or defense against Magic or Ranged attacks. Summoners that give an advantageous ability such as "Divine Shield" or "Blast" will also help us win the battle.

  • To benefit as much as possible from the effect of our summoner, we will try to use as many monsters as possible.

  • Monsters with high speed are important in this rule.

  • Lining up monsters in ascending order of their health is a good idea as well.

My Lineup

The White Plains of Khymeria boast an extremely mild climate that allows for some Khymians to live in the elements throughout the year. Lorna Shine is one such Khymian. She wanders throughout the valley, visiting acquaintances and attending celebrations. Her skin is incredibly fair, no matter how much time she spends outdoors, and her red hair shines like a flame as she approaches from a distance at sunset. Lorna carries a huge sword on her back. When the sword is removed from its sheath for combat, it always does magnificent work. Lorna has never much discussed it among her Khymian friends, but she has always felt a strong magical surge deep within her body. She knows that with proper training, and with the attention of the watchful Angels that protect her always, she has what it takes to become a formidable summoner in the Mount Mox tournament games. Lately, Lorna is ready for a new challenge, and something is calling her to combat. The arena awaits.

Lorna Shine: I really like this Summoner as it gives the "Divine Shield" ability to all friendly monsters at the start of the battle.

Furious Chicken: Perfect tank for 0 mana in low mana battles. Using it in the first position will make it the target of enemy monsters in this battle.

Gargoya Scrapper: For only 1 Mana we will have a second tank with the ability "Divine Shield" thanks to the effect of our summoner.

Creeping Ooze: Ooze is one of those cards that fits very well in almost any composition. I find it especially good in low mana games as it only costs 1 Mana.

Dax Paragon: There are not many magic attack cards for only 2 Mana and Dax Paragon is one of them!. Using low mana cards will allow us to use more monsters in this battle.

Enchanted Pixie: Low mana cost card that deals magic damage.

Light Elemental: Another incredible magic attack card with high speed. High speed is very important to attack first.

This strategy around the "Back to Basics" rule was very effective. We have won +1590 reward points and +0.184 SPS for this victory in the Bronze league. The choice of our summoner helped us a lot as the enemy had to hit our monsters twice to kill them.
