Battle Mage Secrets - Melee Mayhem

imagen.png

Greetings Summoners! Welcome to Battle Mage Secrets. The Battle Mage Secrets is a challenge where every week players must test their strategic skills in battle for specific rules. This week the specific rule is "Melee Mayhem":

  • Melee units can attack from any position.
  • Prime use case for melee units with Bloodlust.
  • Abilities take precedence where targeting is concerned.

This battle was played in a Splinterlands tournament where only the Chaos Legion and Riftwatchers editions were allowed to play. It was in the "Scarred Hand Novice Beginner Training" tournament, so only level 1 cards were allowed. Let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules & Strategy

This is a 34 mana battle with 3 battle rules (Healed Out, Melee Mayhem and Little League). All elements except Fire, Water and Earth are allowed to play.

Strategy & Tips

  • Do not use monsters with Heal, Tank Heal, and Triage.

  • Use monsters with melee attack since melee units can attack from any position.

  • Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used.

  • A good tank and a balanced line up of Magic and Ranged monsters is a good idea.

  • Line up monsters in ascending order.

My Lineup

Thaddius Brood sat in silence in his cell, staring hard at the far wall across from him. While he was completely still and quiet, inside his mind was a busy place. The voice from the entity he'd summoned, the one that connected with him, had plenty to say. We will get out of this, dear Thaddius. This cell is not enough to hold us. We will kill those that put us here. That dared to claim they were our masters. Everyone will know of our power. Thaddius grinned.

Thaddius Brood: This summoner reduces the HP and magic attack from all enemy monsters by -1. I think it is very useful as it helps to kill monsters faster and be more resistant to magic attacks.

Xenith Monk: This card is a perfect tank for only 4 Mana that fits perfectly with the "Little League" battle rule, where only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used.

Riftwing: Riftwing is a good card. Its Flying and Scavenger abilities allow it to dodge ranged and melee attacks and last longer in battle.

Venari Bonesmith & Life Sapper: Strong duo of magic cards. These monsters have the Life Leech ability. Usually, the monsters with the Life Leech ability have low HP, but I love using these monsters because if we manage to gain HP from the beginning of the battle, it will continue to go up and more time will take to eliminate them. I put it in position 4 to have a space to gain more health.

Ravenhood Warden: This card gives +2 armor to all friendly monsters. I think it is very useful since none of our monsters have armor. Armor will allow us to resist more attacks from enemy monsters with melee and ranged attacks.

Revealer: This monster has Stun. When a monster with Stun hits a target, it has a chance to stun the target causing it to skip its next turn.

This was a great battle. We have been able to make a solid team. We have managed to use a varied combination of different types of damage (melee, magic and ranged) and win the battle. My opponent played very well and with a very similar strategy. He is a very good player! I am happy with my victory and the strategy I used. I have won 10 SPS for finishing 1st in this tournament. I won 18 battles out of 20.

Personally I like the Melee Mayhem rule, but we must be careful not to use only melee attack monsters, as the opponent could easily counter our strategy.

Nice - I don't care much for the low Mana battles but it helps to have a good strategy ready just in case.
