Hello everyone and welcome to the Battle Weekly Challenge. This week the challenge is with Goblin Psychic, a common Earth element card with the Tank Heal ability. This card belongs to the Chaos Legion edition and is part of the Starter cards, so we can use it for free.

In this particular battle we are facing a level 2 Obsidian summoner. Luckily, the rest of the opponent’s cards are level 1, so it doesn’t matter the level of his summoner. We are going to play on equal terms because all my cards are also level 1. So let's see the rules, the team and the details of the battle.

Battle Rules

This is a 34 mana battle with the rules "Earthquake" and "Rise of the Commons" where all elements are allowed except Death.

IconNameDescription
EarthquakeNon-flying Monsters take 2 Melee damage at the end of each round.
Rise of the CommonsOnly Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.
  • A trick for this ruleset is to use monsters with the "Flying" or "Heal" ability or monsters with high HP and Armor.

My Lineup

Brighton was an eccentric young man of Shimmer City, the capital of Khymeria. He was always seen as a strange character among the Khymian summoners. Brighton’s attraction to birds was quickly noticed by Suam Khepri, Empress of the United Gloridax, who assigned a team of aerial sorcerers to properly train the young man. When Brighton emerged from that training, he could grant the power of flight to any monster under his summoning control.

Brighton Bloom: I think using Brighton as summoner in this battle is the best option as it can help a lot in this ruleset. Giving all monsters the Flying ability prevents us from taking two melee attack damage at the end of each round.

Unicorn Mustang: I have chosen Unicorn Mustang as the main tank because I think that there are many common and rare monsters with magic attack and Flying ability. Therefore, our opponent will surely decide to use this kind of monsters if he takes into account the "Earthquake" rule. Besides, Unicorn Mustang has a lot of speed that along with the Flying ability that our summoner Brighton Bloom gives to all friendly monsters makes him a very good tank also against melee and ranged attacks.

Serpentine Mystic: I have used this card to counter my opponent's possible supports. When a monster with Affliction hits a target it has a chance of applying Affliction on the target causing it to be unable to be healed.

Mushroom Seer: I saw that my opponent used a lot of magic attack compositions in his last games, so I decided to use this card that reduces the magic attack of all enemy monsters by -1.

Wood Nymph: This card will help us to keep our tank alive thanks to its ability Tank Heal, which restores a portion of the monster in the first position's health each round.

Goblin Psychic: I decided to use Goblin Psychic as a second support to keep our tank alive as long as possible. I really like the Goblin/Nymph combo as it gives us a lot of sustain. In addition, Goblin does magic damage, which is very important to avoid my opponent's heavily armored monsters. Monsters with magic attack may do damage from any row, since this form of attack ignores the defender’s Armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). Unless there is a monster with Phase on the enemy's team, magic attack will always hit. There is no miss chance.

Goblin Thief: This card can target the last monster on the enemy team with his Sneak ability . One of my main objectives with Goblin Thief is to kill enemy monsters with low HP that players usually use in the last position.

Did your strategy work?

I think my strategy worked quite well. As I had anticipated my enemy used magic attack monsters and healers. We were able to successfully counter their strategy and win the battle. Also, I think our summoner choice was very wise as it gave us a considerable advantage in the battle by preventing us from taking two melee attack damage at the end of each round due to the Earthquake rule.

Do you like the Goblin Psychic?

Yes, I like Goblin Psychic. Personally, it is a card that I use a lot for its impact in battles. I think Goblin Psychic should be taken into account in most Earth compositions especially if we use the Obsidian summoner that gives +1 magic attack to all friendly magic attack monsters. In addition, we can also take advantage of its low speed in games with the "Reverse Speed" battle rule, where slower monsters attack first.
