Share Your Battle - Animated Corpse
Share Your Battle Challenge
Another Battle Challenge with one my not preferred splinters. In lower leagues, death is quite unreliable. Should I debuff melee or ranged? Or better go for Magic reflect? If your opponent isn't a one trick pony, it is quite difficult to predict what to debuff. So I am not a big fan of death. And also except for Owster, Harklaw and Undead Rex, I have only few "good" cards, except for the starter cards. So I wasn't really looking forward to this challenge.
Check out my battle:
The Animated Corpse. 4 Mana, no abilities at level 1, 2 melee attack and one speed. I use this card in one rule set only: Little League. And it is one of the best cards to be used in there. 6 HP are amazing.
This was another reason, I wasn't looking forward to this challenge. I don't like little league, because it feels like missing out on a lot. But finally the chance came and I used it.
A fledgling Dark Eternal is also known as an Animated Corpse. Emerging from the Tar Pits of Creation in the Southern Waste of Mortis, each fledgling must first shed what remains of its mortal flesh. While in decay, the Animated Corpses are placed on the front lines to speed their transition.
The Rule Set:
Healed Out and Little League, 21 mana and all splinters but fire. Cerberus is probably the best tank in little league, but with healed out and no fire, he was twice "banned". So Death it was.
My opponent looked like a one trick pony, so my strategy was pretty easy. You Owster and let him kill himself.
The Summoner: Owster Rotwell
A Dice Summoner giving magic reflect to all cards, is a pretty solid counter to those magic spam only players. I didn't even checked in detail, because it's usually magic spam, if you see 5x water in a row.
Owster is a rare summoner, starting from $22 for a 1 BCX copy or $18 for the cheapest per BCX copy (level 5 for $720). I bought this guy for $16, a few weeks ago, unfortunately only one copy. But if we get into a bear market, we are likely to reach that price territory again.
First Position: Animated Corpse - The Challenge Card
Animated Corpse is a common, Alpha / Beta card, so it won't be available in modern format.
It is as already said a four mana card, and therefore perfect for little league. At level 4 it gets Void - its only ability. Gets another Melee attack at level 6 and 9, adding up to a total of 4 Melee attack. Also increases its HP and speed to a max of 3 speed and 9 HP. So yes, this card is designed as a tank.
Starting at around $2 it is quite affordable - and cheaper than higher level versions. Even the Alpha 1 BCX copy is only at $8. A maxed out Beta needs 505 copies.
Second Position: Cursed Slimeball
Yeah, it is what it looks like. A pure meatshield. One Melee Attack, 1 Speed, 1 HP. This Untamed common card is part of the starter set and very useful. It is more expensive than the chicken, regarding mana. But it is still very viable, since 1 mana isn't that much.
It gets redemption at level 6 and another melee attack at level 10. 1 BCX is $0,75 right now.
Third Position: Undead Priest
This rare Alpha/Beta Undead Priest is a nice card as well, and one of the more reliable debuffs. Weaken works almost always, since most cards have more than 1 HP. It gets Slow at level 5. At level 1 it has no attack, 1 speed and 3 HP. It gets one magic attack at level 3, also gets faster and bulkier. But it does the trick at level 1.
Fourth Position: Twisted Jester
Another rare Alpha/Beta card. One of the most useful ones, especially in low mana battles. Giving 2 ranged attack, 3 speed and 4 HP for four mana ist quite good and gets better with the Snipe ability. It gets another ranged at level 3 and level 7 and dodge at level 5. When playing Death, this is one of my more frequent used cards.
It also costs $9 for a 1 BCX copy, while the cheapest is a level 7 for $4,23 per BCX.
Fifth Position: Dark Astronomer
Untamed rare Dark Astronomer is another card I used in this team. 2 ranged, 1 speed, 4 HP and no abilities at level 1. Nothing too special, but very useful. It gets another range at level 7, and Shatter at level 4 as well as Blind at max level.
1 BCX copies start at $1.88 right now.
Last Position: Haunted Spider
Another Alpha/Beta card - but a common, and the first card, I wrote my first battle challenge on (https://peakd.com/sps/@andy-plays/splinterlands-weekly-challenge-haunted-spider) which is already two months ago. Time flies.
2 ranged, 1 speed 2 HP at level 1, with no abilities. It gets posion at level 4 and another ranged attack at level 9. Starts at $4,20 per 1 BCX copy and $2,43 for the cheapest per BCX.
It was magic spam. Alrich, with Frost Lion, Elven Mystic, Ice Pixie, Enchanted Pixie, Medusa and Crustean King. So they probably didn't read the rule set. It was perfect for me, since this was, what I expected.
It was quite a short battle. After the first round most of his team was gone. I did loose the Animated Corpse and Cursed Slimeball as expected. Everything else survived.
As expected most of their cards were killed by the reflect.
Second round ended the battle. Medusa killed herself, so no attackers left made it easy to clean up.
Everything worked as planned. Magic Reflect on low Health weakened monsters is quite effective.
