After writing about a few losses on my last battle challenges, this time I want to talk about a draw! I tried out a new card.

Check out my battle here:

Stone Golem

image.png

Another Alpha / Beta card. I love to play it either on first or last position in low mana or melee only battles together with Mylor and enjoy my enemies Sneak cards killing of themselves. He is only limited by his low attack, so it oftens happens that the only damage dealt by him is from the thorns - and this was true in this battle as well!

Lore

The Stone Golems that reside around the Crags of Maglar are quite terrifying to any stranger who wanders into their domain. In spite of the sheer power and weight of them, these Golems are surprisingly gentle and peaceful. A good day for a Stone Golem is one in which he did a lot of heavy lifting.

Rule Set:

image.png

20 Mana,Noxious Fumes and Up Close and Personal, with Dragon banned, where the rule set. So only Melee and low mana - perfect for a Mylor and Stone Golem combination! Being poisoned was the only disadvantage. Flesh Golem level 3, Earth Elemental level 4, Pelacor Mercenary level 6 or Kron level 1 are the only ones, that would be able to self heal in Earth Splinter. And Kron and Earth Elemental have been banned through rule set, so if I would've had Flesh Golem or a level 6 Mercenary in Gold League, it would've been a great advantage. But I do not have any of these cards - and was playing in Silver 3.

So I went for a classic Mylor strategy and hoped, that my opponent would kill themself before I die.

Summoner: Mylor Crowling

image.png

Although I did buy Djinn Oshannus, so far Mylor Crowling has been my most expensive investment in Splinterlands. Only got of them. He is an amazing summoner against Melee attacks, so it is a great benefit to use him in all Melee rule sets, since your opponent gets damaged every attack and most low HP monster kill themselves instantly, when attacking.
Mylor is an expensive, but very useful summoner!

First Position: Stone Golem - The Challenge monster

As already mentioned in the intro, I really love Stone Golem in All-Melee or Lost Magic ruleset. And in combination with Mylor he is even stronger. Being a Beta card, Stone Golem is not going to be available in modern format, make this strategy not being available anymore, since right now Earth Splinter has no other Shield cards. Or one has to use a neutral card, like Chain Golem or Elven Defender (level 5 and above, starting at 60 BCX), both being Untamed and therefore useable.
But Chain Golem is a legendary card, and is very expensive on the markets (starting at around $320 per 1-BCX-copy). Elven Defender is a starter card though, but - as well as Chain Golem - very high mana. It would be a good alternative, since the price per BCX is just $0,85, so you would need around $50 to get a useful card.
Stone Golem on the other hand start at $10 per 1 BCX copy or around $460-500 for a maxed out version.
It has 1 melee attack, 1 speed, 2 shields and 6 HP at level one, plus the shield ability.
It ains another melee attack at level 3 (5 BCX) and level 7 (61 BCX) and has the chance to Stun your opponent cards starting at level 5 (21 BCX).

Second and last Position: Oaken Behemoth

image.png

The legendary Dice card Oaken Behemoth is an amazing secondary tank, but can be used as a primary tank as well.
Having 2 Melee and 2 Magic Attack, 3 Speed, 2 Shield and 9 HP with Reach and Void Armor it has a mixed usecase, but is best of at second position, after you primary tank. Because it can still attack with both, its magic an melee attack. Gaining another melee attack as well as Knock Out at Level 2, it gets even more valuable. At level 3 it gets even more bulkier with another HP plus Dodge - making it an even better tank. Finally at level 4 with Trample and another HP, it really becomes a monster!

I got this card delegated from @godislove777 and it is really amazing! But it is already at $160 for a 1 BCX copy, although "just" $1,500 for a maxed out one. A gold foil is at $5,000,but there is only one copy right now.

Opponent lineup:

image.png

My opponent went in with Lorna + Chain Golem, Silvershield Knight and Feral Spirit level 4, trying to maximize his melee attack. Lorna is giving Divine Shield to all monsters, making my first attack useless each time I strike first.

The Battle

image.png

Round one was not really spectacular. Feral Spirit destroyed the shields on my Oaken, Chain Golem on my Stone Golem and I got rid of two Divine Shields.

image.png

Round two started with us all getting posioned and Feral Spirit killing of himself, while taking 3 HP of my Oaken. Chain Golem got my Stone Golem down to two HP, while destroying his own last shield. Oaken could take of some of the health of Chain Golem, while Stone Golem didn't do a thing, except for the thorns.

image.png

Round 3 started with my Stone Golem got killed by poison and my Oaken killing his Chain Golem, leaving the Oaken and Knight off four round for, when both of them were killed by poison.

So it was not a very long battle.

Analysis

MVP was Noxious Fume killing us all. But our teams were pretty balanced. Maybe Oaken was too much mana for this low mana cap battle and I would've been better off with a Flesh Golem or something else, but I really like the "double attack". Flesh Golem has the problem, that as soon as the opponent tank has Shield as well, he is only good for the thorns. So it would be good to get him to level 3 at least, to be able to deal some damage as well.

Cheers,
