Hello Guys!

I'm back again with my Splinterlands post to join Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today I will discuss about one of the strategy in the Noxious Fumes (All Monsters start the battle poisoned) rulesets if you don't have immunity monsters. I chose the Neutral Legendary monster, Cornealus as an example in the use of this strategy. I'm sure you like what I'm going to share.

Well, I'm neither a proplayer nor a tournament hero. I just enjoys sharing strategy and battles that I find interesting in my own view. I played on modern battles on Gold leagues, and maybe the battle strategies I'd share weren't suitable to apply in other leagues because the differences in ability that open up are different from each league. Before talking further, let's see how strong Cornealus is!

CORNEALUS

STATS.png

Cornealus is one of the Legendary Neutral monsters from the Untimed edition that has a mana capacity of 10. This monster has the basic ability to Heal with 2 Ranged attacks, 3 speeds and 12 Health. The milestone of the level increase is the addition of abilities to each level-up, as well as the addition of damage attacks at level 2 and level 4. At level 2, there will be additional Thorn abilities, at level 3 there will be additional Return Fire abilities, and at max level aa addition of Reflect Magic abilities.

Because it has a large mana capacity, usually this monster is used in high mana battles, but sometimes we also see this monster in low mana battles, which is to win from Fatigue. Although it doesn't make it, sometimes this strategy is effective, especially in the upper leagues because the ability that this monster has is a reversal of all kinds of attacks.

This monster has 12 Health, its meaning that in one Heal it will restore 4 Health, maybe this is the reason for the strategy of being yoky such as just staying silent from the attacks of small monsters can still make him win from fatigue.

Well, I actually really like this monster, but sometimes this monster is rarely on my deck because the rent is quite expensive. Especially for the level up of this monster, it can be hundreds of dec/day, and I don't think this is effective for rental players like me. It just so happens that I'm currently getting a relatively cheap rental price, which is 50 dec/day for level 3, so I'm currently putting Cornealus on my deck.

BATTLE PREPARATION

photo_2023-02-28_21-16-12.jpg

The rulesets

  • Noxious Fumes (All monsters start the battle poisoned)
  • Melee Mayhem (Melee attack monster can attack from any position
  • Armored Up (All monster have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stats)
  • Mana Capacity 58
  • Element Actives Fire, Earth, Life, Dragon

Line-Up and Strategy

In Noxious Fumes rulesets, I think there are 3 strategy that you can use, including:

  • Using monster with Immunity ability, its because the monster is immune to negative status effects, including poison.
  • Using monster with Cleanse ability, because can removes all negative effects on the Monster in the first position on the friendly team.
  • Using Heal monster, but you have to make sure these monsters don't get attacked, so they can survive as long as possible.

I'm going to use the last strategy, using some monster Heal in the middle of the formation, so when this monster gets poison, the Health of this monster will restore and return to full. And because the rulesets of this battle are also Melee Mayhem, so even though there is a melee monster with Heal in the middle, it can still attack. The complete line-up and strategy of each monster I will explain in the table below.

MonsterPositionAbilitiesStrategy
photo_2023-02-27_14-15-03 (2).jpgQuix The DeviousSummoner-1 Range, -1 SpeedI chose Quix The Devious because it's the only gold-level Dragon Summoner I have. In addition, the debuff given to the opponent also increases my potential to win, because all range attacks from the opponent's monsters will be reduced, and the Speed of all opposing monsters will also be reduced by 1. So there's a chance that my monsters will be attacked first compared to the opposing monsters.
photo_2023-02-28_21-16-20.jpgAgor LongtailTankFlying, Taunt, Void Armor, HealAgor Longtail is the strongest tank I have. In addition, this monster also has a Heal which is very useful for these Noxious Fumes rulesets. Taunt ability will make other monsters avoid the opponent's attack, because the opponent's attack target only focuses on this monster.
photo_2023-02-28_21-16-19.jpgUriel The PurifierSecond TankFlying, Recharge, HealUriel The Purifier is the second Heal monster in this formation, apart from being a second tank, also as an attacker because the Melee Mayhem rulesets allow melee monsters to attack even though they are not in the first position. I deliberately put Uriel not in the first position so that before Agor Longtail died, this monster did not get any attacks, and only received poison from each round which in the end the HP he had was restored again by Heal.
photo_2023-02-28_21-16-17.jpgAdelade BrightwingSupport, AttackerFlying, Repair, ResurrectAlthough this monster's HP is small and may die in the third round, the Repair ability it has will be very useful to support repairing the Agor Longtail Armor as a Tank. It's a pity that I don't have Adelade BRightwing level 2, because actually level 3 of this monster has Immunity ability. But this is enough to become a Support as well as provide assistance as an attacker with 2 damage magic.
photo_2023-02-28_21-16-16.jpgOshuur ConstantiaSupport, AttackerResurrect, Reflection ShieldJust like Adelade Brightwing, Oshuur Constantia may also only last for 3 rounds, but his damage is quite helpful for attacking opponents. The resurrect ability will resurrect the first dead monster, but it could be that because the tank I built is very powerful, this monster will die first because of poison before resurrect other monsters.
photo_2023-02-28_21-16-14 (2).jpgVenari CrystalsmithSupport, AttackerThank HealAs a support, this monster will restore Agor Longtail's HP in the first position, even though Agor Longtail himself already has Heal ability, but because all attacks are centered on Agor, eating Thank Heal is very useful so that Agor Longtail can last longer. As an attacker, this monster has 2 attack ranges and a fairly high speed.
photo_2023-02-28_21-16-14.jpgCornealusAttacker, TankHeal, Thorn, Return FireA monster with 12 HP that once healed can restore 4 HP, I put it in the last position as an attacker because it has 3 attack ranges and 3 speeds. I deliberately put this monster in the last position that has minimal enemy attacks, so that this monster can survive until all the opponent's monsters die of Poison.

You can see the line-ups of the two teams in the picture below. Opponents use summoner Lux Vega, Legendary Neutral summoner with buff +1 Speed, +Armor, +Health. This is one of the summoners of many players, because buffs that are very useful in battle, can also be used together with other elements, just like Dragon elements.

line-up.png

In this battle, the opponent uses Lux Vega combined with Life element, with Uriel The Purifier Formation in first position, Gargoya Devil in second position, Djinn Renova in third position, Adelade Brightwing in fourth position, Venari Crystalsmith in fifth position, and Pristmologist in last position. It seems that using Quix The Devious is the right decision, where 3 of the 6 opposing monsters are Range monsters.

BATTLEFIELD ARENA

I have uploaded the video of this battle to my channel, so to see the course of this battle you can also directly click the youtube video below.

Battles with Noxious Fumes rulesets are indeed interesting, because they require the right strategy not only to defend against enemy attacks, but also from Poisons which each round will reduce 2 Health for all monsters. I used 3 Heal monsters to survive the Poison. Proven this strategy is very effective, I won easily in this battle.

round1.png

The battle begins with buffs and debuff parties from all Summoners and Monsters. Opposing monsters get HP increases from Lux Vega and from Djinn Renova which has Strengthen ability, so at least the opposing monsters can survive a maximum of 4 rounds of poison. The first round went on normally as usual, attacking each other and no monsters died in this round, only that there was one miss attack, namely the Prismologist's attack that missed hitting Agor Longtail.

round2.png

The second round begins with poison dripping onto all monsters, so all monsters undergo a reduction of 2 HP. Epic moments occur in both Uriel The Purifier that have undergone Recharge. Uriel The Purifier is about Agor Longtail who does not have Armor so that Agor Longtail's HP is reduced by 9. You followed up with my Uriel The Purifier attack which hit the opponent's Uriel The Purifier who no longer had Armor, so Uiel's HP only left 1 and in the end died due to Oshuur Constantia's attack. The Prismologist's attack again missed hitting Agor Longtail, and the second round ended with Adelade Bringtwing's attack that left the Gargoya Devil's HP with only 1 left.

round3.png

At the beginning of the third round, the Gargoya Devil died of poison, and there were only 4 opposing monsters left with Djinn Renova in the first position. But not long after that, Djinn Renova died because of the attack of my monsters. Now there are only 3 enemy monsters left, and in this round, the Prismologist's attack also missed. Hahaha poor Prismologist.

round4.png

The beginning of the fourth round three of my monster mat due to poison, that is Adelade brightwing, Oshuur Constantia and Venari Crystalsmith. The opponent's Adelade Brightwiing also died of poison. The opponent's Venari Crystalsmith is now in the first position, and got an attack from my three monsters and finally died.

round5 end.png

Only a Prismologist left with 1 HP left in the fifth round who died when exposed to poison. I won with 3 Heal monsters left namely Agor Longtai, Uriel The Purifier, and Cornealus.

STRATEGY DISCUSSION

The strategy I used worked very effectively in this battle. My goal is not only to attack, but also to defend against poison for as long as possible. Putting the monster's Heal in a position that does not receive attacks from enemy monsters is indeed effective for Noxious Fumes Rulesets. Even if there are no Melee Mayhem rulesets, placing Uriel The Purifier in second place will also be effective, as it has Heal ability.

Cornealus as a topic of discussion in this post also works very effectively, and until this battle ends only losing 2 hp due to the last poison, and if it continues to the order he attacked then the HP akna returns full due to Heal.

As I explained above, it can be concluded that the best strategies for Noxious Rulesets are:

  • Using monster with Immunity ability, its because the monster is immune to negative status effects, including poison.
  • Using monster with Cleanse ability, because can removes all negative effects on the Monster in the first position on the friendly team.
  • Using Heal monster, but you have to make sure these monsters don't get attacked, so they can survive as long as possible.
