Defense with Immortalis in Bck to Basics

photo_2024-01-15_11-26-35.jpg

Yeeeeey I'm back again with my Splinterlands post. This is my second post post to follow Splinterlands Mage Secrets Battle Challenge Back to Basics.

Battles with these rulesets in my opinion are easy already, and really rely on the right strategy because all abilities of monsters are lost, and all monsters only have initial stats, that is Health, Armor, and Attack. Obviously, the selection of the right Summoner greatly affects the victory. The battle strategy that I will share is actually not different from the Back To Basic strategy that I usually, but What's interesting about this battle is that because the summoners that I use and the opponents use are the opposite of the posts I previously shared, but I can still win, because the rulesets of the two battles are different. In a sense, your strategy cannot be forced under all conditions. Decide which strategy you will use after looking at the rulesets.

Are you curious about how this battle went? Without further ado, let's get straight to the point of this post. Well, I'm neither a proplayer nor a tournament hero. I just enjoys sharing strategy and battles that I find interesting in my own view. I did this battle in the modern battle Diamond League using my scholarship account with IGN BLTZR-WIZARD-700, and maybe the strategy I used was not suitable for other leagues because of the differences in the abilities of each monster that was different in each league.

Battle Rulesets

The rulesets in this battle are:

  • Born Again (All Monsters have the Rebirth ability)
  • Broken Arrow (Ranged attack monsters may not be used in the battles)
  • Back to Basics (All Monsters lose their abilities)
  • Mana Capacity 36
  • Active Element Fire, Earth, and Dragon.

Line Up and Strategy

With the consideration of the rulesets above, I think the element that is suitable for this battle is Earth with Summoner Immortalis. This is because in the Fire element, the monsters I have are mostly Ranged monsters and Melee monsters, while Range monsters cannot be used. For Dragon element, I only have summoner Quix the Devious where the debuffs given are -1 Range and -1 speed, and according to my prediction even in Back to Basics rulesets, surely the opponent will use a lot of magic monsters. So I think Immortalis who have defense against magic because they have Void buffs will be more suitable for this battle.

I will arrange the array of monsters as a complement to Immortalis in the table below!

MonsterPositionAbilitiesStrategy
ImmortalisSummoner-1 Health, Void, ShatterAs I explained above, this Summoner provides buffs to defend as well as attack. For defense, this Summoner gives Void buffs to all monsters so that all monsters can reduce the magic attacks received. This will be very useful considering that the range of monsters cannot be used in this battle. In addition to defensive strategies, to attack, this Summoner gives a -1 Heath debuff for all enemy monsters, while in this middle mana battle HP 1 alone is very valuable and can be a decisive victory. In addition, Shatter, another buff from this Summoner, if a monster with Shatter hits the target, the Armor of the monster will be completely damaged. Obviously this will tear down the opponent's leading defense.
Giant HillFirstNoneI chose Gian Hill in the first position because this mosnter only has mana cost 3 but has a large enough HP that is 9. This monster also has 3 melee attack damage that will help defense.
Venari ScoutSecondNoneIn the second position, there is Venari Scout because the normal battle conditions of this monster are Opportunity monsters, but this time I made this monster as a second tank. Well, to be honest, I chose Giant Hill and Venari Scout last, because they adjust the rest of the mana after selecting all the main attackers.
Regal PerytonThirdNoneRegal Peryton is in third place because it has the same damage as the monster in fourth position, but this monster has a higher speed, so when in first place this monster will have the opportunity to dodge the melee monster's attack. In addition, the high speed makes this monster have the opportunity to attack early, so this monster if it is going to die at least has made an attack first.
Mycelic SlipspawnFourthNoneIn normal battles, I might think twice if I would put the Mycelic Slipspawn in the middle of the formation, considering that this monster has a taunt ability where this monster will be the target of attacks from all monsters. So if the opponent's monster has a blast, the blast will also hit the monster next to it, so it would be better to put it in the lowest or rearmost position. But because in this battle this ability does not apply, so this monster will act purely as an attacker with 3 magic damage.
Magi of ChaosFifthNoneMagi of Chaos has dmage 4 magic attack, and this makes this monster the main attacker. The position is not at the most because I'm forget move at the very back position but the time to compile the strategy is up. But this is not a significant problem because the position of this monster is still in fifth position, while in the sixth position is a monster with a smaller HP than this monster.
Venari SpelsmithLastNoneVenari Spelsmith is also a magic monster. Unfortunately, this monster only has 2 magic damage, and this is the weakest monster because it only has 4 Health Points. However, of all the monsters with mana cost 4, this monster is the one I feel is the most ok in this battle.

You can see the line-up of both teams in the picture below. Opponents use summoner Quix the Devious with a combination of Dragon mponster and Earth monsters.

In the first position, there is a Giant Killer just like me, while in the second position there is Mycelic Morphoid which is a monster with mana 1. The third position is Dragon Menster, namely B Void Dragon and Chaos Dragon, and the fifth position is Regal Peryton while the last position is Djinn Biljka.

STRATEGY DISCUSSION

Yeey, my strategy worked very well in this battle. I guessed right, the opponent uses magic monsters a lot, and although the average opponent's monster can attack first, because of the Void Armor defense, the opponent's monsters can be handled easily.
