Hello Everyone!
This is my first post of the week. Weekly Battle Challenge from Slpinterlands has just gotten out of the way and I'm excitedly going to follow this challenge. The theme for this week is battle using Dragon monsters. As we know that Element dragon is special because its use can be combined with other elements. I feel cool when I'm fighting using a dragon deck. It's just that because the average Dragon monster has high manacap, so for battles with small manacaps like during battles in the Bronze league, players rarely use dragon elements. I think the Dragon element is more suitable for battles in the Silver league and above.

I decided to use Daria Dragonscale's Summoner and I'll combine it with some monsters from the Fire element. It just so happens that I am currently getting a daily focus of the Fire element, so I have previously rented a lot of cards from the Fire element. I think the current system is very good because players who don't have a complete deck like me only need to rent 1 element according to the Daily Focus at that time so that to play in the upper league there is no need to spend a lot of capital.

Last season the highest league I reached was the Diamond league, so this season I got a Diamond chest. As we know that the Points that must be collected to get the diamond chest is bessar, the first chest of the Daily Focus is 43000 Focus points, so I tried as soon as possible to return to the Diamond League. My mistake is that I forgot that resetting the rating when EOS was in accordance with the rating when EOS was not from the highest rating of the highest league, so I didn't rent enough power when EOS and finally reset my rating to a rating of 100. Hahaha I was so shocked when I found out that my rating was back to 100. Just imagine how many battles I have to do so that I can get diamond chests. The focus point is Diamond but I started playing from bronze 3. It's really crazy.

Well let's head over to the main topic of this post. I will share the battle strategy that I use to be able to win the match by using the formation from the Dragon element combined with Fire.

Battle Preparation

Rulesets

photo_2022-06-23_15-43-17.jpg

  • Holy Protection (All Monsters have The Devine Shield ability)
  • Reverse Speed (Monster with lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks)
  • Manacap 34
  • All Elements Open

Line-Up and Strategy

In accordance with the rulesets above, the first strategy I apply is to choose a monster with the lowest possible speed for this deck battle formation. 3 monsters will focus on attacking the opponent's tank, while 3 other monsters will attack from several sides. I will also place monsters with Thank Heal and Healing abilities. For the type of attack, I'm not focusing on the type of attack to intercept the full debuffs of the Opponent, but I will use the Melee, Magic and Range attacks together. The monsters I choose and what the strategy of each monster will be explained as below:

MonsterStrategy
daria.png Daria DragonscaleI used the summoner of Daria Dragonscale level 6. This is the max level of this summoner. The ability is +1 Melee attack. When I chose a Summoner to rent, the rental price of this card was quite cheap and I thought it would be suitable when combined with monsters from Fire which are also many good monsters with Melee attacks.
grump.png Grum FlamebladeIn the tank position I chose level 3 of Grum Flameblade. This is not the max level of this card but at this level all the abilities are unlocked, that is Bloodlust, Void Armod, Void, and Giant Killer. I think this monster is very strong and fits according to the Reverse Speed rulesets because it has a speed of 1. The disadvantage of this monster is that it has a high manacap. But this is not a problem, I will adjust the remaining manacap by filling it with low manacap monsters. The most important thing is that I can put a very powerful tank.
gond dragon.png Gold DragonIn second position I chose Gold Dragon level 4 (max levels) with 4 damage magic. Actually this monster is one of my favorite monsters. At the max level of this monster, the abilities possessed are Flying, Healing, Blast, and Reflect Magic. With the huge damage and ability it has, I think this monster can concurrently serve as an attacker and as a second tank. Imagine if 4 damage magic with a blast hits the opponent's monster, of course it is very deadly. Not only 1 monster but 2 monsters at once were hit by attacks.
bee queen.png Beetle QueenIn third place I chose the Beetle Queen max level. This monster is a rare monster from the Fire element. The abilities are Thank Heal and Inspire. This monster has 2 damage magic, has 3 HP and 1 Armor. The weakness of this monster in this battle is that it has a high speed of 5. In normal rulesets, this monster battle is very inhabited because of the high speed, but in battles with reverse speed rulesets, this monster is not the best choice. I don't have any monsters with other Tank Heal abilities, so I think it's okay to use the monsters that exist now.
ayam.png Fiendish HarpyIn fourth place I chose fiendish Harpy max level with ability Flying and Opportunity. This monster is very special because it only has 2 manacap but has 3 melee attacks and 4. Can you imagine when this monster increase 1 Melee because Buff from Daria Dragonscale and increase 1 Melee again because Inspire from Beetle Queen. This monster will be have 5 melee attacks.
snipe.png Lava SpiderIn fourth position I chose Lava Spider max level with ability Snipe, Snare and Poison. This monster is part of Fire element.
ruraeus.png UraeusIn last position I chose Uraeus max level with ability Sneak and Poison. Same like Fiendish Harpy, this monster will increase 2 melee attack from Summoner and Inspire ability. I think Armor from this monster protect this monsters from Opportunity or.

When the Battle Begin...

lineup.png

The line up of the opponent looks like the one above. Opponents use expensive summoner Waka Splinterblade with order of positions from the foremost Lord of Darkness, Corrupted Pegasus, Twisted Jester, Silent Sha-Vi, Soldstorm and Venari Bonesmith. The first time I saw the Lord of Darkness and Corrupted Pegasus combos I was instantly inferior and pessimistic about winning. Luckily, it turns out that the Corupped Pegasus of the oponent is still level 2 and does not yet have the ability of Thank Heal. There is still hope of winning, and it will probably be an interesting match. Well let's see what kind of match goes

buffs debuffs.png

After getting buffs and debuffs from all Summoners and Monsters, in 1 round I have 16 Melee attacks, 6 Magic attacks and 1 Range attack. I'll receive 10 Melee attacks, 8 Range attacks, and 2 Magic attacks. From the number of attacks it is clear that my team is stronger than the opposing team.

round2.png

Devine Shield ability makes attacks in the first round only hit the opponent's tank because my 3 monsters focus on attacking the opponent's tank, while Opportunity, Snipe and Sneak monsters only solve Devine shields without hitting monsters. Hell, from round 1 Grub I've got a stun and My Uraeus gets poisoned. Hmmm I think this is so annoying.

round3.png

In round 2, Lord of Darkness was killed, so in round 3, it was seen that my team was stronger than the opponent. Until the end of round 3, only Silent Sha-Vi was alone. Victory is possession.

round4.png

The game ended in the fourth round. I lost 2 monsters in the first and last positions in this battle. This proves that the Grum Flameblade as a tank is indeed the right decision. The result of the match can be seen from the results below. I got a 20 rating increase, 21,932 RP and 7,721 dec.

Strategy Discussion

Actually, this strategy is less effective in this battle and will be more effective for normal battle rulesets. It should be in the Holy Protection Rulesets, where all monsters have Devine Shield ability we have to focus 1 attack on 1 target. At least 1 target is attacked by 2 monsters, because the first attack on the Devine Shield ability is ignored, the next attack only hits the Heal or Armor of the monster.

If you have any other opinions about the strategy I use let's discuss it in the comments below.
