Hello guys!

Yeeeeey I'm back again with my Splinterlands post. I'm writing this post to follow Splinterlands Mage Secrets Battle Challenge Rise of Common. I plan to include 2 posts to participate in this challenge and this is my first post.

Rise of Common rulesets may sometimes be encountered during push rank, if you have a fairly complete and varied card and have a good RNG, winning in these rulesets is not difficult. However, if you only have a limited variety of cards, you might lose more than win.

Well, I'm neither a proplayer nor a tournament hero. I just enjoys sharing strategy and battles that I find interesting in my own view. In this battle that I shared, I played in the Gold Modern battle league using my scholarship account from Bulldog 1205 with IGN NIGHTMAREINBONE. This can be a reference strategy if you play in the same league, but I don't guarantee this strategy works if you apply it to other leagues because of the different card levels in each league.

Ok guys, without further ado, let's get straight to the heart of this post!

BATTLE PREPARATION

Challenge Rules

RULESET: Rise of the Commons

Description:
Only common and rare units may be used in battles.

Summoners are unaffected by this rule.

Battle Rulesets

rulesets.png

The rulesets in this battle are:

  • Born Again (All Monsters have the Rebirth ability)
  • Lost Magic (Monsters with Magic attack may not be used in battles)
  • Rise of the Commons (Only Rare and Common Monsters may be used in battles)
  • Mana Capacity 28
  • Active Element Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon.

Line Up and Strategy

With the above rulesets in mind, in general the strategy I will use is:

  • Strengthen defenses both from the front and rear, by using very strong tanks.
  • Use buffs from Support monsters to strengthen defenses, both Heal, and Repair.
  • Fill all slots with monsters, even if they are monsters that cannot provide attacks or have strong defenses
  • Focus on Melee attacks with large damage, because magic monsters cannot be used in battle.

You can see the implementation of this strategy from the line-up that I compiled in the picture below.

line-up.png

In the table below, I'll explain the more specific strategies of each monster in the line-up above.

MonsterPositionAbilitiesStrategy
photo_2023-09-25_04-53-18.jpgKelya FrendulSummoner+1 Speed, +1 ArmorI chose Kelya Frendul as a Summoner because with the +1 Speed and +1 Armor buffs, my Water troops will become strong attackers and defenders. Defensive and attacking strategies will be very effective with this Summoner.
photo_2023-09-25_04-53-17 (2).jpgDiemonsharkFirstTrample, EnrageDiemonshark is a very strong Tank because it has high Speed, great damage, Health points and large Armor, and has very supportive abilities as attackers, namely Trample and Enrage. So when the opponent's attack hits this monster's HP, the active Enrage will increase Melee's speed and damage, and if the target of this monster dies, then Trample will activate which causes a streak of attacks for the monster behind it. In addition, if this monster dies then comes back to life due to the Rebirth ability of the rulesets, then with a lot of armor and monster support behind it, this monster will be difficult to die again. So both as attackers and tanks, this monster is very powerful.
photo_2023-09-25_04-53-17.jpgDeeplurkkerSecondOpportunity, PoisonI chose Deeplurker in the second position who acts as the main attacker in this battle because this is an Opportunity monster that has enormous Melee damage and Poison ability that can actively hit the target, so every round starts the target will lose 2 HP.
photo_2023-09-25_04-53-16 (3).jpgPelacor BanditThirdSneak, FlyingPelacor Bandit in the third position is Sneak monster has a very high Speed and has a Flying ability which makes this monster also difficult to hit because of its great inhibiting ability from the combination of speed and flying. With 3 melee damage, this monster is enough to be a strong attacker.
photo_2023-09-25_04-53-16 (2).jpgMardaali GuardianFourthThank Heal, RepairMardaali Guardian is the most important support in my line-up formation because the Thank Heal ability will support Diemonshark with HP repair in every round and Repair ability which will repair the Armor of other friendly monsters that receive the most attacks, both in the front, middle, and back.
photo_2023-09-25_04-53-16.jpgAngelic MandarinFifthTriageAngelic Mandarin is a Support and attacker, because he has a Triage ability that will restore the HP of other monsters that are not in the first position, in this case it can be a monster that is the target of Sneak, Snipe, or opportunity targets and also has 2 Damage ranges that will help to attack the opponent.
photo_2023-09-25_04-53-15.jpgChaos AgentLastDodge, PhaseChaos Agent in the last position is the rear tank that will be the target of the Sneak monster. This is a non-damage monster but quite annoying because it has the opportunity to avoid quite a lot of opponents' attacks because it has a fairly high speed and also Dodge and Phase abilities. Because it has the smallest HP among other monsters, it could be that this monster will also be the target target of the Opportunity monster. I designed this monster to be the first monster to die from the nile-up I owned.

I've also included a youtube video of this battle that you can play right away.

This battle is quite interesting because both teams have balanced strength and also almost the same strategy, namely facing Water troops with Kelya Frendul as Summoner. If I fill all slots with monsters, the opponent only has 5 monsters with Diemonshark formation in first position, Deeplurker in second position, Venari Marksrat who has Martyr in third position, Pelacor Bandit in fourth position, and Mirdhampir in last position.

round1.png

As usual, the battle begins with buff and debuff parties from all Monsters and Summoners. Because they use almost the same Summoner and monsters, the speed of the two teams is also balanced, but my Pelacor Bandit is the one who gets the first chance to attack and then continue with the opponent's Pelacor Bandit. yes, the opponent's Pelacor Bandit attack misses the mark on Chaos Agent. This was also the only miss attack in the first round, and the poison of Deeplurker from both teams also successfully infected the target.

round2.png

The second round begins with Chaos Agent and Venari Marksrat poisoned. Chaos Agent died for the first time because he got an attack from the Pelacor Bandit, then came back to life with 1 HP and 1 Armor, and immediately got a Heal from Angelic Mandarin so that his HP was full again. The Venari of Markstrat also died for the first time and immediately came back to life. Martyr who is active makes all stats of the Deeplurker and Pelacor Bandit increase. At the end of the second round, Chaos Agent was poisoned again by Deeplurker's attack.

round3.png

The third round begins with Chaos Agent poisoned and then killed by the opponent's Pelacor Bandit attack. An attack from the opponent's Deeplurker misses hitting my Pelacor Bandit. Enrage from my Diemonshark is active after being hit by an attack from Mirdhampir, and because his Speed increases, he immediately gets the opportunity to attack the opponent's Diemonshark. The opponent's Diemonshark dies, Trample is active, may Diemonshark again attack the opponent's Deeplurker. Diemonshark fights Rebirth with 1 HP and 7 Armor.

round4.png

In the fourth round, Mird almost died from the Pelacor Bandit attack and then came back to life. My Pelacor Bandit was poisoned by Deeplurker's attack. Attacks from my Diemonshark and Deeplurker miss hit the opponent's Diemonshark. At the end of the fourth round, the two teams both had 5 monsters left.

round5.png

The fifth round begins with My Pelacor Bandit poisoned. My Pelacor Bandit died from Deeplurker's attack, then came back to life. The opponent's Diemonshark finally died after getting an Angelic Mandarin attack.

round6.png

The sixth round begins with Angelic Mandarin dying from a Pelacor Bandit attack and then coming to life again. Mird almost finally died after being attacked by the My Pelacor Bandit. My Diemonshark's attack kills Deeplurker, and trample's active follow-up attack kills Venari Markstrat. Martyr who actively raises all stats from Pelacor Bnadit. Well, this is the second stat increase of Pelacor bandits, so it's no wonder that the stats are very scary. Deeplurker comes back to life and the sixth round ends with a Heal and Repair from Mardaali Guardian to Diemonshark.

round7.png

At the beginning of this seventh round, the opponent only had 2 monsters, that is Deeplurker in first place and Pelacor Bandit in second place. Deeplurker dies from Angelic Mandarin's attack. Pelacor Bandit who has a speed of 9 and also Flying ability makes Diemonshark and Deeplurker's attacks miss.

round8.png

In round 8 a opponent only Pelacor Bandit remained.Although Angelic Mandarin's attack missed which eventually died due to Diemonshark's attack, but later came back to life due to Rebirth.

round9.png

Finally, Pelacor Bandit actually died in the 9th round due to My Pelacor Bandit's attack. I won this match with 5 monsters left, namely Diemonshark, Deeplurker, Pelacor Bandit, Mardaali Guardian. and Angelic Mandarin. With 20K SPS Staked, The battle result as shown below.

STRATEGY DISCUSSION

The strategy I applied worked very effectively in this battle, and I would consider using the same strategy in other battles. The key to this victory is due to the good cooperation between Support monsters and tanks. Although the opponent can activate Martyr 2x, but because there is no monster support on the opponent's side, so the defense built is not as solid as my defense which has layered support from Mardaali Guardian and Angelic Mandarin.
