The Magic Squad in Armored Up!
Hello guys!
Yeeeeey I'm back again with my Splinterlands post. This is my second post to follow Splinterlands Mage Secrets Battle Challenge Armored Up. These rulesets actually came out a few months ago, and the strategy I will use is not much different from the strategy that I always apply in those few months. If you haven't read my first post for this challenge, you can visit my profile and read it first.
Well, I'm not a professional player or a tournament hero. I merely like to discuss battles and strategies that in my opinion are worthwhile. I participated in this combat using my Scholarship account with IGN BLTZR-WIZARD-700. I played in the Diamond league at modern rank while using a Full main Chaos Legion edition card and several Reward cards. The battle strategy that I shared may not be effective in other leagues because of the different levels of each league.
Ok guys, without further ado, let's get straight to the main point of this post!
BATTLE PREPARATION
Challenge Rules
RULESET: ARMORED UP
Description:
All units get a +2 armor buff at the beginning of the game.
Use Void Armor to ensure that magic attacks strike armor first.
Use Shatter or Piercing to destroy your opponent's armor more effectively.
Battle Rulesets
The rulesets in this battle are:
- Armored Up (All Mosters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat)
- Back to Basics (Monsters lose all abilities)
- Lose Legendaries (Legendary Monsters may not be used in battles)
- Mana Capacity 20
- Active Element Fire, Water, Life, Death and Dragon.
Line Up and Strategy
This is a low mana battle, and according to the rulesets above that all monsters lose their abilities, so they only rely on Summoner buffs. So I put together some strategies,
- Using monsters with small mana cost but good damage.
- Use as many monsters as possible, even if they only have a small HP and no damage, because this can also be a tank to withstand melee and range attacks with the Armor buff from Armored Up
- Monsters with Magic attacks are the best attackers in this ruleset, because their attacks can directly penetrate HP.
- How many attackers play at the very back, with the aim of dying last.
- Summoners with magic attack decrease buffs, Voids, and Void Armor need to be considered, because it is possible that the opponent will also maximize the use of magic monsters.
From this strategic arrangement, I chose monsters like the ones in the table below.
Monster | Position | Abilities | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Thaddius Brood | Summoner | -1 Magic, -1 Health | Because this battle is only 20 mana, so choosing a Summoner with mana costs a little but has a much-needed buff is a very important thing. I chose Thaddius Brood because this Summoner will reduce the magic attack of all enemy monsters, and also reduce the Health of all enemy monsters. In addition, the monsters from the Death element are the most suitable with the strategy I compiled above. |
Carrion Shade | First | Not working | Carrion Shade only requires mana cost 1, while this monster has stats with 3 HP and 2 melee attacks with 4 speeds. I put this monster in the first position because this monster has a melee attack. This will probably be the first monster to die, but I hope it's after this monster gives an attack to the opponent's monster. |
Chaos Agent | Second | Not working | Chaos Agent is in second place. This monster also has mana cos 1 but has 4 HP and 4 speed. Although this monster has no damage, its HP is enough to become a second tank to withstand the opponent's attack and protect the attacker behind it. |
Xenith Archer | Third | Not working | Xenith Archer was third. I deliberately put this range monster in a position in front of the main attackers who are magic monsters. This is because this monster is also the same as Chas Agent or Carrion Shade, where I just need this monster as a monster shield in its place. Although this monster has a range attack, the damage from this monster is not the best choice in the Lose Legendaries rulesets, because the range attack on Back to Basics cannot penetrate Armor. |
Venari Bonesmith | Fourth | Not working | Venari Bonesmith is a mana 4 magic monster with the best stats, because it has the highest speed and more HP than monsters with mana costs from others. This monster has 2 magic damage, and 5 HP, so even though this monster gets a debuff attack, there is still 1 magic attack it has. In addition, HP is good enough to protect the main attacker who is in the backmost position. |
Life Sapper | Fifth | Not working | Life Sapper has mana cost 3 with 2 magic damage, the same as Venari Bonesmith. But this monster's HP is only 3, smaller than the HP of the Venari Bonesmith, so instead of putting it in with the Venari Bonesmith I think it's better if it's behind it. |
Insidious Warlock | Last | Not working | In normal battle, I avoid using Insisious Warlock because it has a Recharge ability. Although after Recharge this monster can have 3x the initial damage, but in my opinion this ability is very tricky and sometimes also useless. Sometimes when it's the monster's turn to attack, it turns out that the target only has a small HP, or it could be that the attack misses. But because this is a Back to Basics battle, this monster will be the main attacker because it only requires mana cost 5 but has 3 magic damage and also 6 HP. Even though this monster has debuff magic, at least this monster still has 2 damage left and I think this is still very useful. Even though this monster has quite a lot of HP, but because I designed this monster to be the last to die, so putting it in the back position is the best decision. |
You can see the complete line-up of both teams in the picture below. The opponent also uses Summoner Thaddius Brood with Riftwing in first place, Life Sapper in second position, Moxian Rebel in third, Soul Strangler in fourth and Weirding Warrior in last position.
BATTLEFIELD ARENA
This battle does not require much time to determine the winner. This is because all monsters lose their abilities, so they only need to attack each other between monsters.
STRATEGY DISCUSSION
My strategy worked very well in this battle. I won this battle with 3 monsters left. Putting the magic monster in last place is a good decision to get victory at the end. Even though at the beginning of this battle, the opponent's tank looks very tough with great damage from the range monster, but when all magic monsters have died, the range monster can only resign itself to death because the initial stat of the range monster cannot attack if in the first position. Unlike magic monsters where they can attack from a position anywhere.
