Featured Card: Deeplurker

deeplurker-stats.jpg

Deeplurker is a common water melee attacker with opportunity ability. It costs 6 mana and it has overall good stats from level 1. It gets poison ability on level 6 and demoralize on level 10. Max level Deeplurker for the silver league is level 5, and for level 5 Deeplurker, you need to combine 60 cards.

The Battle

The battle was held in the silver league. The mana cap was 25 and the rulesets were ‘Armored Up’ and ‘Lost Magic’. I picked a dragon team with water splinter cards. The cards that I used were;

– Kretch Tallevor
– Djinn Chwala
– Furious Chicken
– Deeplurker
– Axemaster
– Chaos Agent

The enemy team was a water team with Kelya as a summoner. The cards that the opponent used were;

– Kelya Frendul
– Serpent of Eld
– Albatross
– Hardy Stonefish
– Merdaali Guardian
– Scavo Hireling
– Deeplurker

My Team

Kretch Tallevor_lv3.png

Kretch Tallevor is an epic summoner without any buff. Cheaper Dragon summoners usually cost 4~5 mana, however Kretch only costs 3 mana. This saved mana may be used to place one or two more low-cost monsters.

Djinn Chwala_lv2_gold.png

Djinn Chwala is a good dragon tank with the thorns ability. It has high health and armor stat as well. Its thorns ability is useful in most battles. Because of its ability, it can also be a good sneak attack blocker when placed in the back end position.

Furious Chicken_lv1.png

Furious Chicken is a very popular card because of its utility. It only has 1 speed and 1 health, but since it costs no mana it can really be put anywhere anytime. It can fill up an empty spot and take some damage. It is especially great when used with Mylor, because it can give the enemy one more thorns attack!

Deeplurker_lv1.png

Deeplurker is an opportunity attacker with overall good stats. Opportunity attackers are especially useful when enemy teams have healers. Since Deeplurkers attack stat is 3 and lots of healers’ health is less than 3 or 4, it can finish off enemies’ healers in one turn if they don’t have any armor. The higher speed opportunity attackers have, the more powerful they become. Therefore, Deeplurker makes great synergy with Kelya.

Axemaster_lv1.png

Axemaster is a very powerful ranged attacker with double strike ability, and it is my favorite water monster. Because of its ability, it basically deals 4 damage every turn. It also has high speed, and you can often destroy an enemy tank even before it attacks back.

Chaos Agent_lv2_gold.png

Chaos Agent is a filler neutral monster with 1 mana cost. It has similar utility to Creeping Ooze or Furious Chicken. It gets dodge ability on level 2. It barely dodge on level 2 but it is still useful just as a filler monster.

★ Tell us about your lineup. Explain why you put each card in that position and why they are a good fit with the monster.

My main tank was Djinn Chwala and it was placed in the front end. Furious Chicken was in the second to protect my main attackers from possible opportunity or snipe attacks. The third and the fourth monsters were Deeplurker and Axemaster, which were my main attackers. Chaos Agent was placed in the back end to block possible sneak attacks.

★ Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Djinn Chwala as the main tank was a good choice because the enemy’s tank was Serpent of Eld. With thorns ability our team could finish off the Serpent fast enough even though a lot of attacks missed it. Usually, lv2 Chaos Agent doesn’t evade often even with its dodge ability, however, in this battle luckily it evaded a lot and gave my attackers enough time to finish off enemy monsters.

★ Do you like the monster? Why or why not?

Although Deeplurker is not a beautiful monster, it is a very powerful one. In recent meta, Deeplurker is one of the essential monsters in water splinter, and it definitely increases win rate quite a bit. It gets poison ability on level 6, and it can only be used in and above the gold league. I cannot try it out yet because I’m in the silver league, but it would be even more powerful.

I really like Axemaster. Double strikes are the best.
