BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! Lost Legendaries!
Hi everyone! It's time for the weekly Battle Mage Secrets challenge and the challenge this week is the Lost Legendaries Ruleset.
About the Ruleset
The Lost Legendaries ruleset states that "Legendary Monsters may not be used in battles". This means that we are missing out the use of some really awesome cards.
Details of my battle with this ruleset is as follows.
Holy Protection: All Monsters have the Divine Shield ability
Only the Water and Earth Splinters can be used
Mana Cap: 19
Cards & Line Up
Summoner: Obsidian - This increases the Magic attack of my deck by 1.
|1||Hill Giant||It is the main tank as it has a decent amount of health.|
|2||Madcap Magus||It'll hopefully build up some health to tank with its Life Leech ability.|
|3||Regal Peryton||It's the main damage dealer of my deck and has the Flying ability, where it'll hopefully dodge some attacks.|
|4||Khmer Princess||It's here to provide some Magic attacks to help take down the opponent faster.|
|5||Mycelic Morphoid||It's here to remove the Holy Protection of the opponent's monsters against the backline attacks.|
The ruleset here meant that (1) We are unable to make use of the Legendary monsters, (2) Monsters will not take damage on getting their first hit.
Given that we could only choose from the Water and Earth splinter, I opted for the Earth Splinter as it'll allow the bypass of Shields if the opponent chooses the Water Splinter. As this was a low mana cap battle, I opted for 3 magic monsters, which gave a total of 7 damage (with the Obsidian boost). That should be sufficient to take down most tanks on the first round.
The opponent opted for the Water Splinter, with Diemonshark as the main tank, which my cards can only take down in round 2, given the Holy Protection ruleset. Still, it will be taken down fast. I was fortunate that the opponent was using lower level cards. I would have gotten a harder fight if the opponent was using higher level cards, but I think I would still win with my combination.
Thoughts on the Lost Legendaries Ruleset
As the Lost Legendaries ruleset restricts the usable cards to Epic cards and below, and prevents you from using your most awesome monsters. This cuts both ways, and the opponent may not be able to use his legendary monsters which may be stronger than yours. This puts you and the opponent to almost equal footing and may the best strategy win in that case.
